I'm coming to Disneyland at the end of the month for a conference. On one of the nights, Disneyland has been reserved for conference attendees. No other details are provided. Just wondering how this will differ from visiting Disneyland as a regular paying visitor. Hours are until 8 that evening, does that mean the conference attendees won't get in until after 8? I know I'll get details once I get there but I'm already starting to plan.

On other notes: I'm staying at Paradise Pier. Any tips/reviews on this hotel? Also, planning to hang out at Downtown Disney Halloween night. Last time I visited DL was 3 years ago and none of the DCA/DD stuff was there. Any suggestions for a nice, midwestern mom of 3 for the evening? I'm thinking maybe just a movie but wouldn't mind being a little more daring. Thanks!

I've been to 2 different types. One I believe they call a "mix-in"; the public is told the park closes at a certain time but in reality it stays open. Most people leave, believing the park is closing, and rides are mostly walk-on, though many restaurants and shops close.

This Thursday, October 4th, we are going to one that's a little different. We are allowed to enter at 4 pm. At 8 pm we go to Rivers of America while the park is emptied. We must be wearing special wristbands at this time. At 9 we have the park to ourselves, including a private parade. The park will be open for us until 1 am.

You will have a lot of fun either way!:D

Oh my goodness.

I was looking around here on the board to see if I could get any hints about the Thursday night NAEYC special event. Well, I'll see you there Brermama, we are staying at Paradise Pier as well, and we were planning to probably go to downtown disney halloween night as well - our flight arrives in late Wed. afternoon. So when I read your post out loud my wife said "Oh my god, did you just write that?"

I am planning to conference some (I'm most interested in research), but my wife Melissa will be there and not attending the conferance. We are planning to spend some time in the parks during our stay. I'm wondering if there will be accomodations for family members who aren't attending the conferance to attend the Thursday night event - surely people will be bringing family members who aren't registered but would want to go to disneyland? I wonder if there will be any provisions? Are you bringing your 3 children?

See you there Brermama,

DR

d-r, can't wait to go! I'm assuming that non-registered people can go to NAEYC night as there was an option for child tickets. :) I am not bringing my children. I am very fortunately getting my entire expenses paid for by a mentoring program and can't afford the money it would take to bring my family. I'm the worst mom in the world... missing Halloween with my kids and then going to Disneyland without them. I won't be going to the parks except that evening (which is why I'm concerned about timing and attendance) as I feel like I should actually attend the conference since I'm on someone else's expense account. Can't wait for the Disney atmosphere, though. See you there!

Brermama-
There isn't anything wrong with attending the conference as part of your mentoring program without your kids - it isn't your fault it is in Anaheim :)

Where did you get the information about tickets for the night? I haven't gotten anything. I registered for the conferance on line and haven't recieved any materials from that. Maybe I should check with naeyc?

Thanks-

DR (on Melissa's computer)

There is a page in the book about the conference that has info about NAEYC night. I think registration endsn Oct. 12, bu there may be some tickets available at the conference. I can't find the info on the website. My check was made out to Councel for Professional Recognition. Hope this helps, Kim
