For the After Hours events, how do they know someone purchased a ticket for it? Like if a person were already in the park that day, how would they differentiate that person from an After Hours event person?

Some events use wrist bands other are linked to your park ticket. So you have to scan in for anyride like you would for fast pass. Yes some people stay and shop during the events but that frowned upon.

You don’t scan anything. The cast members check to make sure you have a wristband on before letting you on rides.

As others have said, you get a wrist band when you enter the park. If you’re already in the park, there are locations where they hand out bands. Once the event starts you have to show your wrist band before getting on any ride.
