After Hours Events - Ask Questions and Share Experiences Here

Extra Magic Hours (now called extended evening hours, which is still a thing) is different from Disney After Hours. Extended evening hours are for all resort guests at no extra charge. Because it’s open to all resort guests the lines aren’t necessarily all that much shorter. Disney After Hours is a separately ticketed event on different nights that’s open to everyone, including those who aren’t paying an arm and a leg to stay on site (and these events can sell out). I guess it just depends on what you’re willing to/want to pay for, but personally I find paying for Disney After Hours over paying to stay is much more cost effective and I’m able to get on a lot more rides
Slight correction - now EEH is only for deluxe guests (plus Swan/Dolphin) but I agree the paid AH is great.

Went to AH at MK and HS last week. Wrist bands were checked at snack locations, entering lands, and at ride entrances (at least for the first hour or so).

At MK, we did 12 rides (plus a break for Enchantment/ice cream) between 10 and 1. All Fantasyland and Tomorrowland rides were essentially walk ons with the exception of 7DMT. The full queues were open so the wait time was however long it took to walk through. (Tron was down and stayed down I believe the entire event, which was very disappointing.) The posted wait time for 7DMT ranged from 25-40 minutes. We rode it twice and waited 18 and 24ish minutes. Rides were tea cups, Barnstormer x2, Under the Sea, Pooh, Peter Pan, Carousel, Mine train x2, Space Mtn x2 (less than 5 min wait each time), and Buzz. We did not go to other lands during AH but wait times looked minimal in the app.

At HS, between 9:30 and 1, we did Star Tours, MFSR, Rise, Aliens x3 or 4, Slinky, TSM, MMRR x2, and RnRC. I was surprised about Rise. The pre shows were working but we just walked into the BB8/Rey room with no wait. Maybe we got lucky. The park “closed” at 9:30 with a late Fantasmic at 10, which I think helped clear out the lines. Some people leaving from a late Oga’s reservation tried to ride and were turned away. Everything was essentially a walk on except Slinky (we waited 23 minutes, posted wait was 35) and TSM (posted wait of 25 minutes, and it was probably close to 20). This event felt busier than in past years, but I might’ve just been cranky about the TSM wait. It had broken down earlier on the day so maybe there were lingering tech issues or demand. We did see Mary Poppins, Burt, and the Penguin out as well as the White Rabbit and we spent some time poking around in Galaxy’s Edge taking photos and whatnot because it’s even better when it’s dark and empty.

I hope this is helpful to someone. Happy to answer any questions!

We went to AH in MK last night and it was great. We are supposed to go to HS AH tonight but my daughter has been sick all day so looks like we might miss out. We leave tomorrow and just got here yesterday so it sort of stinks.

But last night we stayed until 1. We rode Tron three times, Space Mtn once, SDMT twice, little mermaid, carousel of progress, Buzz, and Pooh. Concessions closed way before the party so we went just as they were closing and only got a water and one Mickey bar. I thought it would be open until one but they closed an hour or so before that. We shopped a little. And our lines were like those above. The q was like it always is. Waits were walk on for most of the rides like Pooh, Little Mermaid etc and ranged from 25-40 min for the popular ones like Tron, SDMT. We enjoyed it and had fun. I would do it again.

That’s interesting. We stopped at the concessions around 11 each night at they practically shoved ice cream and soda and popcorn boxes at us. Maybe they were trying to get rid of it so they could close up.

I’m so sorry about your kiddo. I hope Disney can make an exception and refund your tickets.

We have MK after hours scheduled May 5th. For those of you that have been do you think it is possible to get all of the following done from 10:00-1:00 with a break for Enchantment and ice cream?

Jungle Cruise
Pirates
Tiana's (if open?)
Haunted Mansion
It's a Small World
Peter Pan
Carrousel
Little Mermaid
Pooh
Barnstormer- could skip this one
Dumbo
Tea Party
7DMT
Buzz- could skip this one
Space Mountain
Tron

Oh yes, I know it's a lot! What order would everyone suggest we tackle this? We are okay with one ride only on each and also okay with getting in one ride line right at 12:59.

Thanks!

Hard to say, I would probably cut a few rides from that list to be safe, especially if they require a lot of steps from the main path (e.g., Barnstormer). I would start with Adventureland rides, work through Fantasyland and end in Tomorrowland with Tron, since that’s likely to be the longest line.

However, I would try to knock out some of the rides before AH officially begins. You could either do longer rides that eat up time but have shortish lines, like small world, or try to do one land. We did Adventureland/Liberty Square between 7 and 10 because I wanted to see JC while it was still light.

Okay. Good calls. Barnstormer is probably one we could cut. I didn't think about the length of the rides. Is there a chart or place to find out how long each ride actually lasts?

I’m sure there is somewhere but just taking a quick glance at your list I would guess the ride time would be about 90 minutes total (but Tiana’s isn’t open for after hours). All the longest rides on your list are boat rides. If you float the ride is probably 10-15 minutes lol

We have tickets to MK AH on 4/28. I see MK is open until 10:00 now. I'm a bit bummed that there isn't any dead time between park close and AH starting. I saw the report for the most recent AH that the cast members seemed to do a good job checking wristbands for rides. I hope that's the case again and people clear out. Do people tend to stay away knowing there is an AH at the park?

No, people do not stay away as the park is open to them until 10 PM. After hours does not draw that many.
