How long do I have to wait to get my ID # after I close? I closed on Monday on a HH resale. This is my first time as a DVC member.

you can call MS and see if they have you social security # in their system.

if they do - they can tell you your member number and you can immediately make a reservation.

spiceycat, I was wondering about this, how do the new people know how to call MS? Is the 407 number general knowledge?

I knew the number to call because my broker gave it to me (the 1-800 number along with the prompts ie. push 3 than 3). Usually it takes about 3-5 days. I would allow at least 3 business days before calling and then check back every couple of days. If you aren't in the system after a week and a half, I would call your broker or escrow company and make sure everything is OK. It took a little over a week for me, but it was mid December and the person who does the transfers had been on vacation for a week and it took her a bit to get caught back up. (as told to be by my broker).

If you didn't give them your SS#, they can look you up by name.

It takes 5-7 days after closing for you to be in the system. And yes, your broker should've given you the 800 number to call or check the closing paperwork you received. One of the problems we had was that we made it into the DVC computer system 5 days after closing but our points did not get posted into our account the same time. That took another 3 days so if they find your name but no points, don't panic :earboy2:
BTW, early WELCOME HOME to you :flower:

We were on the system in about 3 days. We instructed the closing agent to send a copy of the Deed along with the transfer fee as soon as the funds went to the seller. I think that sometimes the closing agent waits for a copy of the recorded Deed before notifying Disney.

Well, after some thought, and pricing our first vacation with our 5 year old, we are making the plunge into DVC! I was going to go with just 150 points, but after looking at the difference in price, and the probable need for a 1 bedroom when 5 becomes 12, I've decided to go for 200. Our month will be August, with closing in June, but the sales agent said that we would be able to make reservations in June for November. Does this sound right?
Thanks to everyone who posts here....you really helped me ask questions that I hadn't thought of and made me better understand the flexibility of the points. :Pinkbounc
Coming home soon....

Hi 3 Hobbits...

If you're buying directly from Disney, you can make your ressies within hours (o.k....mabye a day) of when you pay your initial $500 deposit....

They took our $500 on Tuesday & I made our December ressies on Wednesday....I already have our temporary membership cards....

It's MUCH faster than buying a resale....

I Hope This Helps!

:cool1: That's good to know. We had our "encounter" with our sales agent last March so all of the transaction has been over the phone. I gave our deposit today (but changed the points desired on the answering machine tonight :flower: ) so I haven't even see the contract paperwork yet. Looking forward to November....and beyond!
