I really don't like to cook! I've been married for 29 1/2 years and just realized this?? I do like to bake, and I like to clean. Ironing is like therapy.

BUT, when it comes to cooking and washing dishes I've noticed lately I find it very irritating. :confused3

I'd rather stick a needle in my eye than iron! Seriously, I've had my girls grow out of things that languished in the ironing basket!:lmao: (not proud of it, just sayin')

Any idea what made you suddenly realize you hated to cook? Maybe taking a cooking class at a university or buying a new cookbook would spark your interest. Could be you've just become bored with fixing the same things for 29 1/2 years? Just a thought. You know the old saying: 'The best thing to make for dinner is reservations'!:rotfl:

I really don't mind cooking, its like a way to express creativity through food.
BUT I HATE DOING THE DISHES AFTER! Ugh! And ironing is so annoying. I don't mind laundry and folding clothes. I feel like all I ever do is dust and that annoys me too LOL. I don't mind scrubbing the bathroom, but it get dirty so quickly after.
Maybe I need to get a really good paying job and get a maid LoL.

It's definitely doing the dishes after! We have a home we go to on weekends and we have a dishwasher there - also DH is around to help with prepping the meals. We have better supermarkets for shopping.

During the week I have to do everything by hand, alone. I hate peeling garlic, I hate washing pots and pans, etc. The stores around here have horrible produce so fresh ingredients are a problem.

I'm definitely stuck in a rut as far as ideas.

Oh well, I think I'll go do some ironing :laundy:

This made me laugh.

When my ILs retired my MIL announced that she has retired to and has stopped cooking for the most part. They go out to eat about 15 - 21 times a week!

If she makes a meal at home it's sandwiches, hot dogs, or something in the microwave.

I love to cook when I have time. I don't enjoy working all day and then cook/clean. I do it since I want to serve a healthy meal, just don't enjoy it.

I like cooking on the weekends though!

God bless you! I can't stand doing ANY of that.. We wont even get into to folding and putting away laundry or emptying the dishwasher.....

I don't like anything domestic. Well baking is about thsomee closest I get to tolerating it and even that comes out of a package!

If something ever needs ironing my Dh does it. If it needs cleaning mot times it is he or my mom. If there is a home cooked meal it didn't come from me. I am unqualified for my postion of being a SAHM. I do clear the clutter though and have been known to fold some laundry here and there. I am laid up with a broken fibula and the house is still running without me!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I just totally dislike doing any kind of house work, but laundry and cooking are at the top of that list. I guess I better get used to it.

I think we're just burned out on cooking after all these years (I've been married 31 year).

I like to cook if I have time. It's the "get-home-and-cook-something-quickly-before-everybody-starves-to-death" cooking that I don't like. Cleaning up stinks.

I like ironing too -- it's a little therapy session. :goodvibes Out, out, darn wrinkles.

You get me! :cloud9: I love to iron the pillowcases, nothing like a nice smooth, clean smelling pillow at night!

eta: which reminds me - I better go make the bed!

Add me to the list!!! I despise cooking. I never used to.....I LOVE collecting cookbooks, love looking for new things to make but when all is said & done and I ask the family, "how was dinner" and all I get are...."it was okay" or "that was gross" LOL, I have a hard time actually enjoying making dinner. My DH is fussy. He says he's not, but I gave him a couple cookbooks before to look through and hopefully he would be able to pick some recipes for me to cook. He came up with about 4-5 recipes that weren't all that different from what I usually make. :headache:

If I could just open a cookbook, pick out a random page and make that recipe for dinner, I would be sooooo happy. But with DH being so picky, my oldest is sick of the same old/same old and my youngest not liking ANYTHING aside from typical "kid food", I just stick to what I know off the top of my head, which tends to be the same 8-10 meals.

As for cleaning, I don't mind it if I do it on a weekend. I like to have the music playing and just go to town with the cleaning. I get the washer/dryer and dishwasher going first. If I know I have the "machines" running, I feel like I'm ahead of the game and the rest of the cleaning goes smoothly. LOL And I actually ENJOY ironing. Not sure why. But to lay a wrinkled shirt down on the ironing board and watch the iron smooth out all of the wrinkles is kind of calming. :confused3:thumbsup2 LOL But to come home from work at 5pm and then have to deal with making supper makes me want to slam my head against the wall.

I can't believe anyone enjoys ironing....I despise ironing! Very rarely do I pull out the iron and when it does come out it is usually because I am making a shirt for my daughter with transfer paper :upsidedow

I like to cook, although I could do without washing all the pots after. I hate to iron!!! I do it, but I don't enjoy it.

I admit I'm really bad. I don't like any domestic work. I never cook. My DH does all of it and with one child away and the other in high school even his cooking has diminished.

I would live on Lean Cuisines, Smart Ones, tuna fish and pizza.

Unfortunelty it seems my younger DD has inherited my trait and not interexted in cooking at least.

Ironong? I stopped buying clothes that needed it years ago....

I've gotten so spoiled since I retired. DDs "babysit" me while DH is on assignment in DC 8-9 (non-consecutive) months per year; they cook, clean, wash, dry and fold laundry, grocery shop, etc. I have mobility/movement issues, so they're an enormous help. Pretty much all I do is gather the rubbish for trash p/u twice a week and empty the dishwasher when necessary. Oh, and I make necessary phone calls/appointments. As I said, I'm so spoiled.

I don't like to do any of those things. I don't like to cook. I don't like to bake. I don't like to clean. And ironing is nothing like therapy for me. And I have known all of this for years:thumbsup2

honestly, i don't mind cooking, i actually like the idea that i made something and it turned out well, and everyone enjoyed it, BUT, i DESPISE doing dishes! i hate housecleaning too, and luckily, right now, my chiropractor has pretty much nixed that. i do the most important things on my good days, and the rest of it will just have to wait until my back is a little better.

I agree. I'm married almost 30 years and while I don't hate to cook I'm tired of the same things all of the time. What makes it worse is my DH sometimes doesn't get home from work until after 8 PM. I have to make things that hold well or eat really late.

I can't believe anyone enjoys ironing....I despise ironing! Very rarely do I pull out the iron and when it does come out it is usually because I am making a shirt for my daughter with transfer paper :upsidedow

My mother LOVES to iron. She has decided to buy me one for my birthday because I never iron, don't even own one obviously. I just take it down to her if I need it done. She will even come up to my DD's and grab the grandkids things to iron.

I hate peeling garlic

I'm with you in terms of cooking!! Given more time in the evenings, I think I'd enjoy it, but I hate the shop, chop, plop and roll my cooking's evolved into.

I used to use fresh garlic. Over the past year, I've been using the pre-minced garlic in a jar. It's been a good substitute for me, and I love not having to clean the mincer. You can find it with the seasonings, if you want to try it.
