our breeder finally had the puppy we wanted. It is a black tri, female, not necessarily show quality (although she really is but the breeder is not going to charge me show rates for her) American Toy Fox Terrier or a Foxie as they are called.

She was born on 4/28 so she is 14 days old now. Here are pics of my puppy lump! She is the one with all of the nice coal black spots.

Top of the pic in this one.

We chose this breed because DH wants a frisbee dog and I want a toy dog. Foxies are commonly referred to as big dogs in small dog bodies but can also be great low-key dogs. They aren't big barkers, don't need tons of space, like cats and kids, can be very high energy and also like to cuddle. She'll be about 7 lbs. full-grown so smaller than both of our cats.

Her name will be Hall's Her Grace, Duchess Ophelia Anne. We will be registering her AKC and UKC but aren't planning to show her. We are thinking we will probably have one litter from her and DH wants to agility train her. I just want a cute dog I can carry in my cute dog bag.

I'm ridiculously excited. We can visit her at 4 weeks and can bring her home at the end of June. I can't wait to have puppy pics to scrap!!!

Better not let my boys see these pictures, it'll be one more dog to add to the list of want to haves.

She is cute!

I can almost smell the puppy breath! What a cutie!

Thanks, everyone!

We'll call her Duchess. Our cats are Arkhe (pronounced R-K) and Phelia (phee-lee-a) and we need an Ophelia (O-phee-lee-a) to round out our Greek phrase from our fraternity. I don't want to confuse our youngest kitty and the puppy by having a Phelia and Ophelia so we agreed on the name.

I can't wait to bring her home. There will be many more pictures posted.

Have fun- having a new puppy is a lot of work but definately worth it.

She is cute!

My DD would be the same way, her friend just got a puppy a couple months ago and have been hearing "I want a puppy", but I'm a "mean" mommy and keep saying no, have enough stuff on my plate right now.

Congratulations Shauna, she is TOO Cute! are you going to call her Gracie for short?

Congratulations! I really want another dog, I just don't know if I am up to the potty training thing again!

She'll be Duchess but Gracie is too cute also. I hadn't even thought about that one!

DH and I have been doing tons of research on litter training puppies and that's what we'll be doing with her. Both of the cats are strictly indoor, litter-trained so we're hoping that will help the puppy train faster.

I know she'll be a lot of work but we have wanted a dog for SO LONG that I am ready. I can't wait to start shopping for puppy gear!

Ohhhhhh!!!! So cute, Shauna!!! Congratulations!!

Puppies are so precious!! You sound just like me. I went to visit Disney when he was almost 5 weeks old, before weaning and took tons of pics. He lasted about 10 minutes before falling asleep during the visit, and then back to Mom for nursing!

Smaller dogs stay puppies longer, so you get to reap the joy longer. Disney is a year old now and the only thing that's changed is that he's bigger and housebroken! Otherwise he's still a mischievous, funny puppy.

By the way, I took pictures of the first visit, then everything when I went to the breeder to bring him home. The whole 300 mile trip was a photo journey!! Then I took pics of his first day at home meeting my Gracie (dog) and getting used to his new yard, etc. Then I made one of the digital Shutterfly memory books online (a freebie coupon) of just that first part of his life....and called it "Welcome to the World, Disney". Every page of pics was accompanied by loving or funny dog quotes.

So, have fun with her when she comes home!! And, share your journey with us. I love these stories!! I hope this helps you to add a postive touch to the hard start to this year!!

soo cute! congrats on your new addition!

If you are serious about agility training, my mom is an agility trainer (she teaches basic pet obedience and agility and competes with her own dogs in agility, hunting, obedience, and tracking trials), Let me know and I'll PM you her info.

She's just too cute! I like both Duchess and Gracie, though I always tend toward those names with the e sound on the end. Mmmm, puppy breath!

New pictures! She is just shy of 1 month in these. She is the cutie with the black spots.

And here's a head on shot.

She'll be coming home on July 3. We can't wait!

BTW, we've decided not to call her Duchess. Her name will still be Hall's Her Grace, Duchess Ophelia Ann but we will be calling her Gracie. Mommy2mrb mentioned the name and I mentioned it to DH because I thought it was cute. I wasn't planning to use it but it turns out the DH really, really hates the name Duchess and adored the name Gracie.

Soooo, thanks for naming our new puppy, Lisa. You're the best!
