Hi all,

My first ever trip to WDW was with my Dad in 1992 when I was 21. I always vowed I would go back and we have just booked to go back in April next year - 14 nights at the Contemporary Resort.

I know it's not a favourite of most people but I just loved staying at the hotel that the monorail goes through and wanted to go back.

Now to start all the planning!

David

Hi, David and welcome! :wave2:

The Contemporary is in a great location and its rooms have just been through a refurbishment, so I think you've made a great choice. Who else is in your party?

I'm so envious - I love the contemporary, tell us all your plans and welcome to the DIS :cool1:

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

It's just me and DDad (DMum is no longer with us). DDad and I went together last time and although he only came to save me having to pay single room supplements he ended up enjoying it as much as I did :teeth:

We're going on 11th April next year and staying for 14 nights, which slots in nicely between Easter and the May Bank Holiday. I thought I was out of luck but decided to look at bringing it forward by one day and up popped the tower room that I wanted :yay: We had a lake view last time so hoping for a MK view this time.

At the moment I'm working through the Ultimate WDW DVD set from relivethemagic reminding myself of rides that I liked last time and checking out the new rides that have opened in the last 14 years. I do get motion sickness so I have to be selective but I handled Thunder Mountain OK last time and from what I have seen of the ride through I could probably handle Test Track right?

At the moment I'm thinking of 1 or 2 days per park with a couple of shopping days and Kennedy in the mix somewhere.

Don't want to bore anyone so I'm off to read more trip reports. :surfweb:

Hi David
Also wanted to give you a welcome. Don't worry, you can't bore anyone here talking about disney :thumbsup2 You will be fine on Test Track, its only the last stretch thats fast, the rest is just an amble through the testing facility with themed rooms. The Contemporary is a great choice for view and access to monorail.
Happy planning and feel free to ask away,
Claire xx

DH suffers from motion sickness which used to mean that there were lots of rides which he couldn't try. But he bought a thing called a 'Relief Band' - and has been on many rides (like Mission Space at Epcot and the Hulk at IOA) since with little in the way of side effects.

You can find them online. They cost almost £100 - but DH thinks it's well worth it. No more waiting while just DS & I enjoy all the thrill rides!

Thanks for the suggestion Julie. I actually use similar bands although they work by acupressure. The trouble with me though is that it is more psychological than anything - I can make myself feel sick just by worrying I am going to feel sick

Brilliant News- I am sure you will have a great trip. I think The Contemporary Resort is great- especically with its' monorail facilities.
