Afraid to ride Dinosaur

My daughter is 8 and afraid to ride Dinosaur. I would like some opinions on whether or not this is scary for her to ride. I myself have never been on it. Our 11 year old rode it and it is not her favorite. thanks

To be honest...I love the Dinosaur ride....but I am 24 and love to be scared and to go on rides like that. But my bf who is 27 hates it!! He thinks it is to scary for him. It is very life like and very bumpy. (so if there is a good chance she might get motion sickness too) There is one part where it looks like you are going to be eaten by a dinosaur (Very realistic I have the picture to prove it scared the wits out of me). I really wouldn't recommend it to someone too young or who gets scared easily. I wouldn't want one ride to ruin the rest of her time or day at the park.

Your 8 year old is wise beyond her years. :) If she's telling you she doesn't want to ride it, believe her. It's VERY scary, mostly in the dark, with just enough light to see the hideous dinosaurs that jump at you with the intent of making you a snack.

When you can't see them, you can hear them. And they're chasing you. Fast.

Our 3 boys (7, 9 and 13) wanted to ride it last time we were there, though they knew it was really scary. We purchased the resulting picture at the end of the ride, which shows the 7 year old, 9 year old, 13 year old and me with our hands over our ears and our eyes squeezed shut. Only my gorgeous husband has a smile on his face, silly man.

Too scary if you're 8 and already don't want to ride it.

My DD rode it once when she was 5 and cried hysterically the whole time. It was horrible. 2 years later (last year), I suggested she give it a try again. I honestly thought she would enjoy it but same thing - as soon as the car took off she bacame hysterical and cried through the entire ride. It shook her up so badly she wouldn't even ride Primeval Whirl, a ride I honestly think she would have loved otherwise. I don't think she will ever get on that ride again!

I agree with Safetymom.

I love the ride myself but have to say that my wife wont ride it. Im riding by myself on this one.

It's VERY jerky, and VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY loud. I even cover my ears on it to be honest.

My DSD rode Dinosaur when she was 9. Scared the bejesus outta her. It's a pretty intense ride. I wouldn't push it, if she's all ready scared.

If she does decide to ride, please let her know that it is LOUD. Seriously, the loudest ride I ever remember riding. I wouldn't try to talk her into it if she's not sure--it can be pretty scarey.

My 15 yo dd hates this ride but she usually rides it with me once per trip just to be nice. We have a fantastic picture from the last trip--she's sitting between DH and I and you can't even tell she's there. She's got her head in her lap, with her sweatshirt over her head--she hates the noise and thought it would make a funny pic. It looked like there was just a jacket on the seat between us. The ride photo people laughed so hard when we bought it!

Oh, and please don't flame me. I didn't make her ride--DH and I offered to go separately, it was her choice to come along--she's been on it before and knows what is involved. It's the noise that bothers her, she's old enough to not be frightened of dinosaurs or traumatized by the whole thing. :teeth:

My kids were 4 and 8 when they rode it the first time and absolutely loved it. We had to ride it again and again etc......... It is loud, i plug my ears when the one dinosaur comes out where they take your picture. I would just put the kids in the middle of the seat, not on the ends and it should be fine, in my opinion. You know your kids best though---mine are daredevils and dont want to miss anything!!

We had the same experience with our DD. She agreed to try it again this past December and once again was terrified. I will never ask her to ride this again. By the way, she hates Primeval Whirl too.

Heck I think I rode this for about the 8th time in December, and it was probably the first time I wasn't buried in the seat next to me. When asked about it I always say "It's very jerky, and dinosaurs want to eat you over and over again."

I rode this back when it was Countdown to Extinction, and while it may be different now, it scared me so much that I won't ride it anymore. DH asked what it was about and I just told him it was scary and I wasn't going back on! :rotfl:

My 2 cents...

My 5 year old was not too scared, but it is realistic and scary at times. But, it is way way too jerky and bumpy and just plain not fun because of it. I love scary rides, roller coasters, just about everything but I found dinosaur unpleasant and really don't know why it needs to be so bumpy.

My 5 year old rode it and loved it. But if your daughter is really scared I wouldn't push her.

My girls ( both 10 y.o.) make me go on this ride continuously when we are there. The problem is they never pick their heads up or open their eyes. LOL!

I'm 30 years old and a scaredy cat. Went on this once and after the second or third dinosaur grabbed my DH and buried my head. Never saw the last and final big dinosaur, but I will never go on that again!

She said it herself...she's afraid to ride. It doesn't matter if we think it's too scary. She's scared. Don't make her do it. :confused3

Personally, i don't like Dinosaur. I was scared and i'm 49. My DD was 8 then and she was scared too. That was my first and last ride on Dinosaur, but she says she'd like to try it again. She's almost 13 now; maybe she can go with her big brother. But not with me. :scared1:

Don't make her do it if she doesn't want to.

Personally, I didn't find this ride too scary. It's just dark. I actually found it funny, and enjoyed it but different people have different reactions to it.

I'm more afraid of Tower of Terror but then I've read posts where children love it. Go figure. :confused3

I rode dinosaur with my 14 and 11 year olds. We had out heads down the whole ride its a little on the rough side. My DS 14 who rides the BIG rollar coaster rides in the non-disney parks was quite a bit intimidated and DD said she will not ride it again.

If she says it is too scary for her, then I guess it is. She knows what she's afraid of.

Dinosaur is really jerky, anyway. No big loss.

I get scared to death on that ride! I don't mind the darkness and the bumping around, but the dinos scare the pooh: outta me.
