Aflac?

I had it. It is supplemental insurance in case you get hurt. It will pay on top of your insurance.

After 2 years of not using it, I dropped it. The money in the bank was worth more to me.

I had it and actually used it. We tried to continue after DH left his job and about 2 months later, i got back the premium payment I made (on the bill they sent me) with stuff to reapply...go figure.

It was nice for me, we didn't have it too long and I was in a car accident, rear ended when I was 6 months preg. I was admitted for observation as I began having contractions. I got a decent amount of $$ for it...needless to say, I would have rather not had the accident, but I did. they even covered visits after I was discharged w/my OB because they were to check on me after the accident, not my normal visits.

Its an insurance in case you get hurt or sick. My husband hasn't been able to work in 10 months, so we are glad he has it. It helps pay the bills.

I had it back when I worked in a doctor's office.. I ended up having carpal tunnel surgery on both hands (6 months apart) and each recovery period was 12 weeks because of they type of work I did.. Between disability through the state and my claims to Aflac, I received a full pay check for each of the 24 weeks total that I was out of work.. It was very inexpensive and basically ended up costing me nothing because their pay-out was so good..

They also offered a cancer policy which was very, very good and not expensive at all.. I didn't get that, but a co-worker did and lo and behold was diagnosed with cancer within a year of getting the policy.. It paid very well - no hassles - and she would have been in serious trouble if she didn't have it..

Don't know what the premiums are now, but they were very, very reasonable in 2000..

yep its supplemental and its just like any other insurance- if you use it it pays off and if you never need it well it gives you added security for the what ifs. I carry the accidental and cancer insurance. so far this year I have had claims for my son's ski accident, my daughter's fractured wrist, my husbands foreign body in his eye, all with payments for followup care, etc and a injury I had to my forearm thats all under my accidental plan. I also submit all of our yearly wellness visits and visits like my annual pap, along with some skin cancer benefits that I used this year for biopsy and removal. Last year we used the accidental policy once. The cancer plan is excellent and one that I would never drop. ;) we pay $45.90 for both biweekly pre tax since 2003..

Does anyone have this? Is it "insurance" or an additional policy?

AFLAC is an additional policy that pays you directly for the type of coverage that you select. That cash goes to you to spend as you choose to help with bills or any way you see fit.

If you have specific questions please send then in a PM as I am an agent.

So how does it work? For example if I have the sickness plan, does it cover taking my dd to the dr? Or is it a reinbursement kind of thing? It seems kinda cheap to cover much, so I must be missing something.

you have to submit your paperwork like for instance your discharge instructions or I like to send the coding sheet they give you when you check out. I fax everything and normally a week to 10 days later I receive a check..

OP, Please check for a PM that should answer your questions.

WE LOOOVVEE AFLAC!!! we are a family of 5 that are very clumsy lol it pays well and no hassles...my dh had surgery that workmans comp paid for,he also got his normal pay (cop) and then aflac paid us for the surgery, check ups (3) and physical therepy (40.00 for each 12 visits). It paid for our whole vacation last year...it is a great thing. I am getting ready to send off paperwork for my dd2 who hurt her leg a few months ago, myself I hurt my arm playing with the kids and had to get x rays and my son who broke his toe the other day and had to get a cast on it because it is near his joint....so I will be getting a BIG check ...

I don't have Aflac, but I did have breast cancer. I chat on the Komen message board and there are many ladies on there that have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have had Aflac. Just a few days ago they were discussing Aflac and everyone that had it highly recommended it. There was not one single person that had any problems whatsoever with collecting from Aflac after being diagnosed.

I love AFlac...:lovestruc I have both accident and short term disability ( i think that's what it's called), but have used both and has been wonderful, easy and hassel free!

I threw my back out carrying my 9 mo old a week after I first had it a few years ago, between x-rays, ambulance ride and physical therapy, that one instance paid out well over what my yearly amount due was. It was wonderful! ::yes::

We have it and thank god we do....we have the accidental policy and it is like $40.00 a month that comes out of dh's check pre tax. We got it in July 07 and in August 07, 3 of us were badly injured. I called the representative here in our area and explained what had happened and what we could claim and they covered almost 4K in expenses.

My co-worker signed up for it when we first started offering it and got the extra cancer coverage. One month later, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and the Aflac made it much easier to cover her bills during the time she undergoing treatment.

Why is it that you can only get AFLAC thru your work ? My DH wanted an agent to come to where he works a few years ago and the business said no way and the people he works with ( all younger ones) said they would not get it anyway because their way of thinking I am not going to get hurt so I dont need it. The place where my DH works does not offer short or long term disability programs so when he was in a car accident 6 years ago he was off for 9 months no pay so I had to take half of my 401k out to cover bills and food as I only work part time so I dont make alot of money and I work at a medical clinic and they dont offer AFLAC either.

When our rep came in a couple months ago I asked him about personal policies (my aunt was interested) and he said that was no problem, they're just a little more expensive than through an employer. He gave me a quote for her and it was barely more than mine. Literally a few dollars per policy.

You might want to check with different reps in your area to see if they'll do a policy for you.

Do they have pre-existing condition exclusions? My DH is diabetic and State Fram refused to cover him for hospital coverage (they pay your $75 every day you are hospitalized). DH and I both have a family history of cancer so this is sounding like a good idea for us. We both have excellant medical and disability insurance, but co-pays can be expensive and disability only pays us 2/3 our salary for long term. The extra money would be nice at a time like that.
