We are staying at AKL but have another couple joining us who will be staying offsite. They are looking to stretch their hotel dollars, but are hoping to stay somewhere with transportation. They won't be bringing kids with them, so kids clubs, slides at the pool, etc. aren't a factor. What are some places I should suggest they price? They won't be renting a car and will be spending their time at WDW.

My fam and I just got back from a fabulous 4br/3b villa 5 mins from Disney for $62 a nite total.

There's no transportation but with prices like that renting a car should fit easily into a budget.

That's for one night. The prices go lower for multiple days. And if you use Flipkey in general you can find comparable locations at lower prices than hotels.

The DTD-area hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd have reasonable rates, and they have two buses that have continuous service to the parks throughout the day. The buses run about every 30 minutes, and I've found them to be just as convenient as the official WDW transportation. I've stayed at the Hilton there and the Best Western. Both were nice, but the Best Western had cheaper rates and free parking.

Only a couple. A regular hotel room would be more then enough space. You have to not only add the cost of a rental car but $14 (or is it now $15) to park at WDW.

like the best western too - it is officially BW Lake Buena Vista resort

would check mousesavers and travel zoo for discount rates.

also there is Wyndham Bonnet Creek - but for just two - this might way too much

Great choice. I'd look for deals at any of the DTD hotels. A car service will cost around $120 R/T, Mears shared bus service around $68. See what A Disney value would cost.

By car service, I assume you mean transportation to/from MCO?

I would look at the DTD hotels. You do get more for your$$ and they can be a LOT cheaper. Check mouse savers and other Disney sites for codes and deals

I have a friend who stays at Caribe Royal and says their transport is great

We had great experiences at the hilton DTD and royal plaza DTD! Next best thing to staying onsite.
