Affordable hotel for 4 adults and 4 children

Hey,

My family members, 4 adults and 4 children (aged 2, 3, 4 and 6)are going to Orlando on a very last minute trip tomorrow May 03 (one of them has some work).

They will be there May 03 through May 05 (2 nights)

They may try to get tickets to any Disney or Universal park which has availability this week, but it is unlikely.

Can you please recommend an affordable (less than $200 a night, preferably less than $150 a night per room, or a family room which can accommodate both families for about $250 a night?

Preferably something which has great onsite attractions for kids, e.g. pools, as they may not be able to visit the park.

They have cars.

Thank you so much

I think for $350/night you can stay at the cabins at Fort Wilderness. The cabins have a bedroom with bunk beds and a queen bed. There is also a kitchen, dining area, and living room with a pull out queen bed. That's a total of 4 beds: Two queens, and a bunk bed with two twin beds (they might be shorter than regular twins, but they'll be fine for the kids). Normally, they say it fits 6 people, but I believe the 2 year old doesn't count. I'm not sure about the 3 year old.

In a typical year, Fort Wilderness is so fun! There is a little spray area at the pool and a water slide. They do outdoor movies, and you can see the electrical water pageant from the beach. You can go fishing, rent bikes, go on carriage rides, and rent canoes (I'm not sure if any of those activities are currently restricted due to COVID). You can also take the boat to Magic Kingdom. There's a playground as well. Usually there's a Chip & Dale sing along, but not right now due to COVID.

Cabins only sleep 6.

The 2, 3, and 4 year olds are sure to love the Tike’s Peak area of Blizzard Beach. That’s where we hung out when our children were that age.

But also be sure to check out the rest of the park.

Yes, but the 2 year old doesn't count. Does the 3 year old? If not, the group counts as 6.
I believe it’s 2 & under, although no one will check the ID of the 3 year old. ;)

But it’s a tight fit for 4 adults. Really, it’s designed for the parents to sleep in the living room, with 4 kids in the bedroom. (At least, that's what we did.)

Ok, on VRBO, I found these listings:

https://www.vrbo.com/1835236?adults...enCount=4&departure=2021-05-05&unitId=2396746
https://www.vrbo.com/2260975?adults...enCount=4&departure=2021-05-05&unitId=2825837

FYI: 2 bedroom deluxe has 1 king bed, 2 double beds, 1 double sleeper sofa. So, kids will have to sleep 2 to a bed.

Thank
Actually, since your group wants to check-in on Monday and Check-out on Wednesday, Tuesday at Epcot might be good.

Get your Park Pass quickly though, who knows how long it will last.
If they go to Epcot, is there any chance to see any Disney character?

Do you think they can do Epcot in the day and then do Magic Kingdom after 2pm?

Thank you

Here is what I may think end up as the plan

Drive in from Pensacola Florida and arrive in Orlando around 1pm on

Monday May 03
Tuesday May 04 - Visit blizzard beach?
Wednesday May 04 - Visit EPCOT or a Universal park?

My relatives are hourly employees and work hard for their money, so maybe for a 2 night stay they do not need a resort with resort fees, parking fees etc. They have cars to commute.

Any offsite hotel recommendations? Preferably one with a pool and or some activities for kids?

Thank you

Epcot has a mini parade called the "Mickey and Friends World Tour" but is scheduled to end on May 4. Here's a sample of what it looks like:

But this parade is schedule to end on May 4, the day you would be there.

It will be replaced by characters at the entrance to Epcot:

They certainly will be able to park hop to the Magic Kingdom. There has not been a single day where park hoping was disallowed.

The thing is, Epcot opens at 11 and closes at 10, while the Magic Kingdom opens at 8 and closes at 9. This gives you just 2-3 hours at Epcot before hopping over to the Magic Kingdom. Given the ages of the children (2, 3, 4, 6), they almost certainly will like the Magic Kingdom more.

At that age, I would suggest the following for the children at Epcot:
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Journey into Imagination with Figment
  • The Seas With Nemo and Friends
After that, I'd leave and head for the Magic Kingdom. (Yes, there are many other things to do. But most have height restrictions or might be of less interest to children that young.)

The thing is, you are talking about a lot of money to buy a park hopper ticket ($191.40 per adult). For a group so focused on getting a reasonably priced hotel, do they really want to do this?

The Orlando forecast for Tuesday is 96 degrees! A ticket to Disney's Blizzard Beach water park is going to cost $73.49. Splashing around and relaxing all day might be just as fun.

Most hotels with activities for kids charge resort fees.

Right now for the 2 nights you want, you can get Pop Century in the price range they are looking for:

Scratch what I just wrote. Have them book the All Stars! The kids will love it!

572272

Seriously, get 2 rooms at the All Stars. Our children loved the All Stars when they were that age. If they get bored after hanging out poolside during the day (you mentioned they arrive around 1 PM), they can take a bus to Disney Springs Monday night.

Right now Disney's All Star Movies is standard rate of $139 plus parking and on Orbitz it is coming up at $118. That would give them them on property and highly animated resort the kids would love. They would each get their own room.

Yes the cost of $191.40 per adult may be prohibitive per adult, and then to add on two adult children's tickets is another couple of hundred dollars.

Are there any offsite parks which are cheaper and offer a good experience for younger kids? Seaworld? Lego Land? Some other?

Thank you

All Star is $118 directly from the disneyworld.com website.

They could do a SeaWorld & Aquatica Water Park combo tickets for MUCH LESS! There is thrill rides for older and Sesame Street area for the littles. And all the animals. They have lots of good deals that even include dining.

And they could get a very reasonable nice hotel close by. With the two parks I wouldn't worry about activities at hotel.

Legoland is fun, but more so if the kids are into Legos. (Our son likes Legos, our daughters do not. The girls kept wanting to leave and return to WDW.)

A Legoland ticket is $85. See LEGOLAND FLORIDA | Official Site | Tickets, Passes, Vacations

Remember though, the temperature forecast for Tuesday is 96 degrees, and a ticket to Disney's Blizzard Beach will cost $69 (plux tax) for each adult, less for children, free for 2 and under. Blizzard Beach is open from 11 to 6 on Tuesday.

For a family who "works hard for their money", 2 nights at the All Stars, an evening at Disney Springs, and a 96-degree day at Disney's Blizzard Beach seems like a great way to have a mini Disney vacation! :)

What did they decide on?
