I have been searching everywhere for good, quality tank-tops at a decent price. I have seen the ones at Wal-mart but I'm a bit nervous that they'll lose their shape after a few wash and wears. Anyone have any good places to find plain, good fitting tanks?? TIA!! :)

I found some I liked at Target recently. I haven't washed them yet but they looked good to me.

Land's End! I think I bought 7-8 of them this year, love them.

Old Navy is having a tank top sale on June 12th - $2 each! You've got to get there early, but at $2 a piece its worth it!

I have to tell you about my Old Navy $2 tank top experience last year. I love their tank tops, BUT it was CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY when I tried taking advantage of that sale.

We got to the store 1/2 hour before it opened and we were still like 40th in line. When they opened the doors, it was like a stampede. Everybody was running, running, running to the tables. Tank tops were flying everywhere, up in the air, being tossed, etc. while people were digging for their sizes and making sure they got the colors they wanted. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before, pushing, shoving, yelling, grabbing out of people's hands. We went in with what I thought was a great plan BUT I will never do it again. It was me and my 2 teenage daughters and we all 3 wear the same size so I told them to grab mediums in every single color and pattern you can get your hands on and then we step back away from the madness and sort through them all and figure out which ones we want and which ones we don't want. Needless to say, when we checked out and got into the car, my girls said they were scared out of their minds by the rude, pushy, mouthy, grabby people and they never wanted to do it again, lol. From now, we pay full price for tank tops and avoid that sale like the plague!

I always get the Target brand Merona - but two clarifications - one, I buy them in the men's department - they seem to hold up better! Two, I get the ones that are 95% cotton, and 5% lycra - they are a smooth tank top, not a ribbed fabric. They don't stretch out the way the 100% cotton ones seem to.
HTH!

Lands End are great and sometimes you can find them in the overstock section.

My target ones I bought this year have stretched. I have two I got at JCPennys and they are great. Be careful of the white stag ones at walmart as the two I bought in April have started to get little holes and have stretched so much.

From my experience the ones at Walmart don't hold up in the wash. I suggest Lands' End or Gap. Those both wear very well!

I just went to the Lands End website and they are having 40% off. The tank tops were $8.70

wal mart recently got some striped/ ribbed tank tops and I usually am afraid of the same thing but nought two as they were three dollars. They are the best ones so far and have not stretched out and I even thought about going back to get more.

i think your experience will depend on the Old Navy you go to. We recently went to the $1 flip flop sale. We got there about 10 minutes before the store opened and were within the second group to go in. Our store actually breaks the line in to smaller groups. So they will let X amount of people in and then they wait 5 minutes and the next group goes in. As more groups get in it gets a little more hectic but nothing like the above.

I am sorry your daughters had to deal with that. How awful. Some people though just don't care. It's unfortunate.

My 17 year old said to try Atwoods. She found them there while visiting her boyfriend at work and suprisingly, they hold up really well.

I'm glad you posted that. I'm going to check them out! Thanks. :)

Eddie Bauer Favorite Ribbed Tank

They are about $15 dollars each but you can usually find them on sale. They do not stretch out of shape, the wash great and last. I have had some more than a year and I wear them all the time. I won't buy any other tanks for me or my daughters ever again. They are worth every penny!

Well, if you can fit into them ;) Forever 21 had tank tops and camis for $2 and $3 each when I was shopping for DD a few weeks ago. I bought a few and she has worn them just about every day, so they've been washed already several times at least. So far, so good, they still look great and even if she gets one season out of them, we've done good.
