We own points at BCV but have not sayed there since a really bad experience about 8 years ago. I made a reservation that begins in about 2 weeks and I am starting to really worry. This was a pretty bad situation and the only one I have ever contacted member services over. I did get a call back and we had a really long chat about it, and the woman gave me her number and told me the next time I stay there I should call her before we arrive. I will not be doing that, after 8 years what would be the point. However I am a bit nervous. Have recent stays for others here been ok? I am really not picky, just a clean room that is actually mine (the room was filthy with we shall call it chocolate smeared on the bathroom walls, the room was well stocked with beverages, food and gifts for others--after entering the room I immediately called the front desk and shared that I thought I might be in the wrong room, was told it was the right room. A few hours later a manager knocked on the door and asked if there were things in the room that I knew did not belong to me...duh I called and said so. In addition to her accusatory tone she actually responded to my DD then 9, who said oh I thought maybe we were getting a special surprise, with "No you are not that special" The whole thing really ticked me off especially since I did alert the front desk immediately and because she was so rude to my DD.
Like I said not looking for anything special, just the room I paid for when I purchased DVC.

I've stayed at BCV at least 8 times, and everything has always been wonderful. But I do so understand your fears. I had the exact same situation at another DVC resort. Very bad stay, only time I complained to MS, long call-back, gifts, "Call me the next time you stay there"-and we haven't stayed there since. And that was 10 years ago. If we ever chose to stay there again, I'd be so nervous, even after all these years! But hopefully, you'll be just fine. Please let us know how you find it after all these years. And 8 years ago there was gelato-sadly, that's gone, at least the pistachio flavor.

Time to let go. No one here can guarantee that you won't have a bad experience again so all you can do is learn from the experience and move on. Your family was not hurt; just given terrible customer service. Probably the same employees don't even work there anymore.

If I had been in your situation though, after initially entering the room and seeing what you saw I would have pulled everyone out, gone down to the lobby, told the front desk that the room was not ready, please hold our luggage and tell us when the room would be ready and could they contact you when it was. Then, I would have started my vacation by either going to the pool, out to dinner, or to the parks.

Have fun and move on. If you don't, you won't ever enjoy your membership.

Thanks, good advice, but I do enjoy my membersip just fine only not at BCV...hopefully that will be resolved with this stay.

Gosh, I'd call! They told you to. Why not?

And if anything weird like that happens again, don't call the front desk. You don't GET the front desk when you do that. You get a call center, possibly outside of Florida. Just GO to the front desk so they can take care of you.

You will be fine, enjoy. I don't blame you for not calling, after 8 years it is very possible she is not in the same position. If you should have a problem go to the desk and ask to speak to the on duty manager.

And yes there is an excellent chance that staff has changed also at the BCV I know the GM has.

When you called the "front desk" you probably got the call center and they didn't know what you were talking about. That's a time when a visit to the front desk might be needed.

Thanks, I think I shall be fine. Armed with all the information I have gained here over the past 8 years I am a much better problem solver while at WDW, it doesn't hurt that the youngest is now 17 and I do not need to get any children settled anymore. I don't think I was aware back then that calls were routed through a call center.

Have recent stays for others here been ok

My family has spent 8-10 days at BCV every summer for the past 5 years (our 6th stay begins next week!) & never had any issues as you described. Our trips have always been fabulous. Hope yours is as well!

I think you should call I don't want to worry you but I just checked out this morning after 8 nights at BCV and although my check in day was not as bad as yours it was similar... We checked in last Friday morning our room was not ready about 2 hours later I received a text room ready and to check at the front desk for my room number I went to check and was nastily told to scroll down my text should have the room number... Ok so I look again and there was a second text with a room number 5614 so we go over to the villas not usIng bell services take all of our things to the 5 th floor can't find the room I ask someone from housekeeping and they said that 5614 was not in the villas to go to the hotel I think ok this is strange so we go over to the hotel and find the room but keys don't work we have never stayed here before so I had no clue how rooms were set up so we go back down stairs back to the front desk where I am told we are in room 354 so we drag everything back over to the villas go to the 3rd floor get o room 354 and keys dont work lol but not funny my husband stayed there with the kids while I went back to the front desk where they discovered the keys were set for the wrOng room I was too tired to argue but went back up and the keys worked the next night we were surpriseD with milk and cookies and chocolates in the room and we enjoyed the rest of our stay

I really don't see what purpose this phone call would serve. Walt Disney World hotels handle literally tens-of-thousands of check-ins every week. I'm not sure what this DVC rep could do to influence the upcoming trip other than providing some verbal reassurance.

Go in with the expectation that everything will be fine. If there's a problem, walk to the front desk and get it resolved. No need to fret about it, IMO.

We have stayed at BCV regularly since 2004 and have had some great experiences and some mediocre ones. We've always felt like mouse keeping was the weak link a an otherwise awesome resort!! Well we are here right now and our room is fantastic. Everything is in working order and was very clean. We could even smell the freshness when we opened the door with the new RFID key. I hope this experience will be very similar to your upcoming trip OP!! Have a great time at BCV.

I had a similar experience at SSR 2 years ago (without the rude CM, though). Somehow, our room got put in the "ready inventory" when clearly it had not been turned over yet. It was definitely a shock to walk into a villa that was, well...let's call it "lived in." (Yeah, it was pretty gross.)

We immediately went back to the front desk and explained the situation. It was evening (meaning it was after 4pm and all rooms should be ready) and they didn't have anything else ready for us. It was going to be at least 2 hours before the room was ready. So the manager at SSR put $150 room credit on our room and told us to go have dinner on them while they got our villa ready.

Granted, this is not the way you want to start your vacation. But DVC and SSR did what they could to make up for the mistake and we were more than satisfied with the resolution.

That never made me wary of staying at SSR again, though. It was just an error with inventory. It happens. My point is...breathe, relax. It is HIGHLY unlikely that anything like that will happen again. We adore BCV and have never had an issue there. :good vibes And we adore SSR even though we HAVE had an issue there.
