aerosal cans on plane?

It will do just fine in your luggage. The cargo hold is not pressurized, so it will not be a problem.

Doesn't that make the problem worse? If the cargo hold is not pressurized, then the pressure there will be much lower than on the ground, increasing the pressure difference between the inside of the aerosol can and the outside air pressure, making a leak or explosion much more likely? The inside of the plane is pressurized so that it's kept roughly the same as the air pressure on the ground, though not identical and certainly not constant (as those of us with ear problems can attest to!)

But I'm surprised to hear that the cargo hold is not pressurized. What happens when dogs travel by air? Don't their carriers get loaded into the cargo hold?

I took a look at the TSA web site: http://www.tsa.gov/interweb/assetlibrary/Prohibited_English_4-1-2005_v2.pdf
and they state "Personal care or toiletries with aerosols in limited quantities (such as hairsprays, deoderants) can be transported either in your carry-on or checked baggage."

This web site: http://asi.faa.gov/these.asp details the quantities that can be carried: "Personal care items containing hazardous materials (e.g., flammable perfume, aerosols) totaling no more than 70 ounces may be carried on board. Contents of each container may not exceed 16 fluid ounces."

Pop does not explode on the plane. Every flight I have been on, when they serve the complimentary drinks, it is pop, so you dont have to worry about it exploding. We always bring our own pop with us on the plane since they never have the kind I like.

Thanks for all the responses! And what I meant about soda exploding is if we were packing several cans in our checked luggage to avoid buying some there. Since the cargo hold is not pressurized, it would make sense that anything under pressure would explode.

Just thought I'd offer my experience...
I have always taken regular-sized pressurized cans (including hair spray, mousse, and shaving cream) on the plane in either my carry on or my checked luggage. I usually pack them in some type of plastic bag just to protect my other items in case something breaks open. But, I have never had any problems with any of them exploding.
I would think as long as you don't carry an industrial-sized container, you should be fine! Hope this helps

Ive been business travelling 15 years all over the world and ALL of this os OK as a carry on!!
Remember...The flight attendants go down the isles opening cans of drinks!!
