Hi all we are getting closer and closer to booking!! Planning to go next July for 3 weeks so just waiting on the flights all coming out but been looking around. We are in Edinburgh so looking to fly from Edinburgh or Glasgow, someone at work had suggested to me looking at Aer Lingus flights via Dublin has anyone done this route, and if so any thoughts? Oh and if anyone sees good deals then please let me know, looking to fly out around last week of June/first week July but can be flexible on days.
thanks

Flying with them next Thursday (Aug 1st) for the first time, will be posting our experience when we get there. Looking forward to doing pre-clearance in Dublin, hate immigration at MCO.

Also they have a business class sale for travel between 19th August this year and march 31st next year, from £1400 return.

Must be booked by July 27th

We flew Aer Lingus to and from Orlando and Dublin. My parents sprang for business class on the way to Dublin...very nice with nearly flat lying seats for the overnight. On the way back we had coach, certainly a bit of a let down, but it was fine for the flight as we were awake. If I remember correct, we had movies to watch, what I remember as the best part of the flight was we cleared customs in Dublin for the US. So no lines in Orlando! Food was so-so and the flight was quite crowded with families heading to Disney world. Good luck.

My Daughter is joining us for a week when we are in WDW in Oct/Nov, she is flying Aer Lingus, as she’s flying on her own, I would be interest to know the in-flight entertainment for her, are the movies in seat back with multiple choice of movies and TV shows, or is a case of watch the over head screen with a take it or leave it option?
Cheers.

Each seat has its own tv you get a great choice of movies tv shows music and game. They also have wifi but you have to pay for that think its €19:99 for a 24 hour pass but I could be wrong on the price :) just looked not sure if the wifi is available yet

Don't count on the wifi. They've been having serious problems with it causing problems in the flight equipment. Because of this it has been switched off and pushed back dates several times for when it would be "fleetwide" workable. If it works, great but wouldn't count on it given the troubles they've been having and how serious to obviously take such a problem.

EI? Can only speak about business class, but EI stands out. In a good way. I've flown to the States with multiple airlines in business but EI stands out. Much better service, hardware, unbeatable prices etc. Entertainment? Simply surf to their website and you can check it out per cabin type.

Just get yourself familiar with their price structures. "Sales" for instance for business class? Grin. They've been pretty much running the same "sale" for about 3 or 4 years now for my AMS-DUB-MCO route. Prices obviously fluctuate a bit depending on demand and supply, but no need to jump on a great sales price in fear of missing out something great.

One very different thing to be aware off; EI business can and does sell out a lot sooner than one is used to with business class on other airlines. The great price/quality ratio does result in higher demand and with a small cabin it fills up faster (are in the process of adding more seats).

Preclearing in DUB is great, but some have been surprised by what that practically entails. Don't preclear until you are done with things like shopping etc. After having precleared no such thing as shops etc. Nothing more but waiting/sitting areas, a vending machine now and again, bathrooms etc. Get your shopping done before preclearing!

Bonus; no need to lug your luggage through CPB when preclearing, all will be automated and just identify your stuff on computer screen. If aditional check is needed (for instance because of having certain items in luggage), they will get pulled up automatically and "magically" appear. No need for you to even touch a bag, let alone lug or cart it around. The whole process will be a lot quicker, much more friendly and with a lot less physical labour than those who've until now cleared on US airports will have become used to. :)

We've flown BHX-DUB-MCO with Aer Lingus a few times now and will do so again.

It isn't as convenient as the direct MAN-MCO flight with Virgin, especially the wait in Dublin on the way back.

But we've flown business class with Aer Lingus for not much more than PE with Virgin, which more than makes up for the indirect flight. And the US pre-clearance in Dublin is a real winner.

Next time we're planning to fly from Manchester to Dublin instead of from Birmingham because there are more connecting flights so not such a long wait in Dublin on the return journey.

Hi

We have just booked Thomas Cook flights from Manchester on 12th August 2014, they are flying direct to Orlando International next year, paid £726 p.p
