Aer Lingus Dublin to JFK

Has anyone ever flown this route?

What was the plane like - good service/in flight entertainment?

How far before our flight should we aim to reach Dublin? Do we need to arrive early for the customs pre-clearance?

I flew Aer Lingus to JFK from Manchester via Dublin in Feb this year.

Flight was excellent, no queue at immigration. Straight through! Just remember your credit card or some euros for the Dublin airport!

I have not done Dublin to JFK for some time as we now go

Direct Dublin to MCO ( Orlando Int )

We will be on the Aer Lingus flight on Tuesday 29th April

I take it that you are flying into Dublin .... therefore you will go along the

Transfer line & into the Main Departure area .

You then " Go along to the USA Departure Pre Clearance Passageway )

Down the stairs to The Customs Hall .... where you fill in The Form

You then have this checked & join the Queue for Immigration

At the Immigration Desk ... Your ( Hopefully ) Suitcase will be displayed

on Screen .... You will have had a Tag placed on it at UK Airport .

Fingerprint & Eye Scan are then taken & with luck your away.

THEN there is a Further Security Check .....& then to Departure Gate

At JFK you arrive as a Domestic passenger.

The whole process takes about 30 min

If you are going in May then the seat back TV is showing


12 years a Slave & The Wolf of Wall Street



Food is OK ..... Soft Drinks are Free ... Seat Pitch is good.

It's your own personal tv so not really other airlines are showing that movie also. They have a choice of over 30 movies not just those 2 so will have children ones also .

12 years a slave is also showing on BA this month, along with Frozen. A wide choice is given so everyone has something to watch. Guess what we watched???

I think my worst nightmare would be Frozen on a loop

We have used the Edinburgh/glasgow to Orlando via Dublin and the pre clearance is excellent staff all very friendly and helpful.
Flights to Orlando have always been clean staff friendly and the food for airline food is pretty good and you can pay to upgrade to better food if you want.
We are flying with them from Aberdeen to JFK and back via Orlando this year.
Movie wise they try to be up to date so you get a good choice.

It was showing on our Virgin flights to/from New York a couple of weeks ago too. I decided not to watch it while on the flight as I didn't want to be in tears!
