Advise please!

I am over here alot looking at everyone's pictures, love them all. Anyway, I am going to Florida next month, and was wondering about using those small jump drives, like the kids use in college to save their information, for my pictures from the camera. I will have access to a computer and figured I could empty the memory cards out on those. This is the first trip I am taking with my digital camera. I am just wondering what everyone thinks about this, or if anyone has any other suggestions. I appreciate any ideas or comments.

Those little jump drives arent the most reliable storage devices in the world but are OK for a backup. You would probably be safer storing the pics on the hard drive of the PC itself AND on the jump drive for double protection!

If you have one of those little netbooks that doesnt come with much storage then to be honest, Id be looking at transferring your pics to a CD if you fill your cards. Chances are the jump drive would be fine, but it is a risk - Ive had one fail on me and so has my DH.

Oh and a bit of useless info, last month the store in the Contemporary were selling Monorail jump drives for $20 if you made a $40 purchase . They were cool!

You might consider just buying more memory cards for your camera, keeping each one intact after it is full, until you get home and can make backups.

I go with the additional memory cards especially since they now can hold so many photos. I travel with 5 of various sizes. I can take as many photos as I want to and don't need to worry about down loading them etc. while there. I also keep an eye on the picture count of each and try to switch them out at night at the resort to avoid having to do so in a crowded place and risk dropping or misplacing the card.

Sounds like memory cards are the way to go!
