Advice

Hi Neo,

Yes it is the same type of boat on both the cruises although there are a couple of speciality boats that are available to book for some extra $$$$$ ;)

We have shared a few fireworks cruises, both Wishes and Illuminations and I can't ever remember a time when we have felt disappointed at our lack of having a decent view. Both our party and those that we have shared with have always managed to sort out a sensible seating plan between us whereby everyone gets a good view. I also try to take a lot of pictures when we do these, especially with the Illuminations cruise as it's such a good view :)

They are all well worth the money IMO and I would happily keep doing them again and again.

Alan.

We did the Backstage Magic Tour last September on our honeymoon, and it was a great day.

We started at Epcot, then went to Disney Studios and then finished at MK.

I wouldn't recommend it for people's first trip to WDW, but if you have been a few times and are looking for something different then this is great fun.

It cost about 250 for both of us I think.

We got to go 'underground' at MK, and saw some surprising stuff too.
And learnt loads of facts which was cool.

Also, there was only about 12 of us on the tour which meant it was really personal.

We saw the staff HQ at Epcot and also saw the staff at MGM making the parade costumes.

Hi again Neo :)

I have never been lucky enough to get an Illuminations Cruise. They sell out literally seconds after going on sale - I tried on 15 different days last trip and although I got through to the booking line with 1 minute of them going on sale, I never managed to snag one. The fact that they are so popular really demonstrates how good they must be, I think :)

The thread that has been posted above will give you lots of good hints to help you be one of the lucky folks who get one of these.

I have however done a Wishes cruise and it was absolutely superb. You get a view of the fireworks that is unsurpassable and quite a different experience to viewing it from inside MK (though it is also excellent there!) We shared with another family and we all had a fantastic view, no matter where we were sat.

From what I hear the Illuminations Cruise is generally viewed as being better than Wishes so I really hope I manage to get a place on an Illuminations cruise one day :)

I also very highly recommend the Illuminations Cruise. It was definitely the highlight of our entire trip. The view of Illuminations was sensational and it is wonderful not having to "stake out" your seats an hour or two before it begins. The CM captains are really friendly as well, and you can order beverages/cakes/snacks too. I really don't understand people who complain about the view -- it was perfect! I'm not sure we would feel the Wishes cruise to be particularly great value, as IMO you need to be in the MK to experience it fully. If not, you can watch it for free from the GF or Polynesian!
