OK Disney goers...I have a request. This is the first time my husband and I have taken a trip together, just the two of us in our 7 years together. We were just married November 10, 2007 at Sandals Dunn's River Villagio-Jamaica; along with 40 of our friends. We are really looking forward to a trip just for us. We are newbies at this. We are both 27, I haven't been to Disney in 11 years, my husband in 22. We are out of the loop on whats good whats not and what to do. We will be staying NYE 08-09!!!!! We are staying at SSR 12/29-1/04 and so excited after reading some of these posts. Everyones information is SO helpful. We are new to this site. My friends father set me up with it. we have rented our reservations and now are looking at park passes, extras, things we shouldn't miss, things we could skip. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email too: ThomasJandJanet@yahoo.com

Thanks

I would suggest wdwinfo.com...the parent web site here is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with the resort and what to do.....Also wdwig.com is a great resource as well with great resort and park photos.

we spent our honeymoon 12 years ago in disney....we are addicted and have loved raising our children as a disney family. The best advice i can give you is to experience it for yourself and learn to love the things that make you happy...As you will find from this board it is different for everybody...For me i love the monorail and pulling up to magic kingdom, and I love illuminations and mark the time each year when we watch it...there are so many seasonal things. I got to experience the candleight processional in epcot last year and was blown away. The Osbourne family lights where spectacular.

Most importantly I have all the memories of family which make every second and every dollar worth it......good luck to you both!!!!:wizard:

Since it has been so long for both of you, you might as well look at it as being a first visit to both WDW and DVC. Don't get too hooked on must do or see things because I have a feeling you'll be coming back. Take it easy and as it comes. Hot attractions usually consume a lot of time. DVC stays are not like a hotel stay. Many people stay without even visiting the parks. Have a great time.

I agree with DisDaydreamer.....relax and "go with the flow". We've never been for NYE but I'm assuming the parks are extremely crowded (someone else can jump in on that) so I wouldn't set yourself up to get certain things done only to stress yourselves out when/if you can't. You'll be right next to DTD and PI since you're staying at SSR.....I'm sure there will be a lot going on because of NYE. There's a thread about NYE at SSR on this board, too, so check that out as well. If there are any restaurants you may want to try make sure you make your ADRs at the 180 day mark (since this is such a popular time to travel to WDW you'll need reservations). Other than that enjoy planning your trip.....I'm jealous, with 3 small boys who love Disney, my DH and I won't be doing a couples trip for some time.

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. I was just told about the Unofficial Guide by another friend of mine. We are really looking forward to this trip and I think some of you had the best advice with just go with the flow. I don't doubt that we will be back. Everyone says once you go, your hooked.
Thanks :)
