I think I'm addicted to my scale!! I weigh once sometimes twice a day and it's driving me crazy seeing the daily fluctuations even though I KNOW by the end of the week I'll have lost at least a pound it still gets to me if the scale goes up during the week. Yet I can't seem to keep myself from doing it. DH just weighs once a week at our weigh in and I tried doing it his way but then I was disappointed that I didn't lose more and by not checking daily I didn't have any clue what to expect. Does this make sense? It seems like the scale just screams to me everytime I am near it!! Wondering how the rest of you handle the scales? Do you weigh daily (if so how do you keep it from driving you crazy!:D ) or weekly?

I keep my scale in my bathroom and every time I go into the bathroom I weigh myself. I see fluctuations too, but I always remember little things can effect your weight like eating and drinking a bottle of water. I keep a calendar with my weight and measurements and record them every two or three days. When I look at it I can see I am losing, so as long as I keep losing I don't let those daily ups and downs bother me. But like you said I can't seem to keep myself from getting on the scale.
I do it so much my DS 2 1/2 now takes his turn too. And even his weight fluctuates and he is only 32lbs! :D

I'm a weight "watcher" too. I mean I am constantly hoping on the scales. Every time I go into the bathroom, I weight myself. It helps me understand the fluctuations that happen during the week. I have been known to get depressed when I think I am doing well, but it went up. Overall, I think it helps me. I think it depends on the kind of person you are. I know most experts say, don't weight yourself more than once a week. Only you will be able to make the decision as to wether you can handle it or not.

I weigh myself every morning. I guess it's just curiosity on my part.

I used to be a daily weigher. I couldn't NOT see how i was doing. Then i went to my first WW weigh in and i weighed in a whole 7 pounds heavier than my scale at home. So that put an end to that!!!!! Then i started using a free scale that weighed the same as the WW one at a shop near where i worked so i used that a few times a week. But stopped when i started gaining weight - stopped going to WW too. Now i've moved and am no longer near that scale so i use one near - but not near enough to go to everyday - where i work. It costs a €1 to use and i get a print out with my weight on it. it's great to see a printed record of how i'm doing.

I weigh myself once a week. It used to be once a month, but it is difficult to do that now with WISH check-ins. I try not to let it become such a big deal to me. If I'm doing what I know I should be doing, making the right food choices, exercising and drinking plenty of water, then I know I'm going to lose weight. For me it would be too depressing to get on the scale numerous times throughtout the week and see the different fluctuations.

Me? I put the scale under the sink during the week. I get it out on my "weigh in" day. I use it, then I put it back under the sink. Out of sight, out of mind. It's too much of a hassle to haul it out every time I'm in the bathroom, so I don't! And that works best for me.

When I used to leave it out and weigh obsessively (like three times a day) I'd see such wild fluctuations, that I'd feel rotten, then cheat, and then quit eating right a few days later. Weighing once a week (or less) works best for me. But I have to hide the scale to make sure I don't do it more often.

I am seriously considering never weighing myself again. I finally realized I don't care about the number on the scale, I truly only care about my size. I want to be smaller so that is my focus right now...losing inches :)

I keep mine under my bed. But I dont think its works right. Its a digital scale they stink! anyway I now weigh myself at Curves once a week. Throw it out if you have to dont weigh your self to often. I plan on weighingmyself everyday when I finally reachmy goal so I dont gain not to see how much I am losing. I can help but think that all the yeras it took me to put the weight on was because I didnt weigh myself enough therefor I didnt realize I was gaining. LOL:p

So I was actually good all week and then I got to work..........remember I work in a restuarant so the choclate caake came out and we had a surplus of choclate Ice cream...... OMY I could resist. I cant help but feel that I put on the 5 pounds I lost. Im cool though....Its actually good to regret it. I never felt that way makes me fell that I am really committed this time. So you see, I turned a negative felling into a positive one. Anyway tomorrow will be hard, Its my birthday and our last day open (seasonal restaurant) so we will be celebrating end of the season and my Bday. anyway I will work out one extra tme next week. LOL.

till next time
Renee

sorry kay after i responded to your thread I meant to start my own thread titled ( i cheated). Disreguard my second respnse has nothing to do with your question. LOL

I weigh myself everyday - sometimes twice a day. I hate the way the scales fluctuate. Keep thinking I ought to try only weighing myself once a week.

I weigh daily (usually twice a day - morning and bedtime).

I don't let the fluctuations bother me if I am on program because I know they are water, bloat, new food in tummy, etc.

I prefer to weigh daily because it helps keep me motivated and able to track what is happening.

The only bad thing is I never remember what I weighed one week ago to put my loss on the weekly thread:( . I guess I need to check in on fitday and look up one week ago.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone! It seems like the best thing to do is figure out what will work for you (and not drive you crazy:D ). I have decided to give this a try for me - our official weigh in is on Sunday and other than that I'll give myself ONE other day to get on and see how things are going. I'll try to make that Wed. or Thurs. That's it! Only one extra day for now and see how that works. I wish I could handle the daily fluctuations - but they seem to bother me too much! So I'll let you know how this works out for me. Thanks again everyone - WISHers are the best!:D

I don't have a scale in my home, just at my mom and dad's house. So I weigh myself maybe twice a week, on Sundays and Tuesdays. I weighed myself today and I see that I'm one pound away from being 222 again. I'm sure I can reach that by Tuesday evening when I weigh again. I've got to do Tae-Bo tomorrow. The exercise was really a big help. I don't know what caused me to go up in weight last week, but I definitely monitored myself this week and it has helped. I am drinking a lot more water, I wonder if that's it maybe?

Hi Denise!

I have found that drinking my water does seem to make a difference in my weight loss. I shoot for at least 80 oz a day. That and your exercise probably helped with your loss this week! I bet you see 222 on Tuesday! Onward and Downward! :D

I weigh in each Saturday. I'm in my 4th month of Atkins, and I've gotten on the scale only two or three times other than my Saturday weigh in. Each time I've been disappointed, so I try to not do that very often. For me, my weight tends to fall off in chunks, so weighing weekly I almost always see a loss. I don't think my sanity could take seeing all of the little fluctuations. :)
