My 9 year old has become Mad Hatter fan. We are planning a trip for next Sept and prioritizing character experiences. She really likes the idea of this tea party, but I'm a little concerned she'll be surrounded by 4 year olds. Anyone done this with an older child? Thanks.

My daughter has done this a couple of times the last time was in 2012 when she was 8 - she loved it and didn't feel too old (in fact she had been to bbb before and didn't feel to old for that either)

My daughter went a month after she turned 4 and there was only one other 4 year old and most were 6-9.

We plan on doing this in September as well. My daughter will be 7.

...there's always the 1900 Park Faire breakfast. The Mad Hatter is the best part of that character meal (Alice, MH, Pooh, Tigger and Mary Poppins...all the "across the pond" folk). We had great character interaction with the MH there. He was great!

We're considering this too, but our girls are 10 and 12. I can see the 10yo loving it, but the 12yo might feel too old. But it's one of those things where once they're too old, they're too old.

We don't do character buffets anymore as I had Bariatric weight loss surgery and can't fathom paying full price when I only eat about a dessert plates worth of food.

Thanks for the input. If there's a mix of ages typically in attendance, we'll probably go for it. DD thinks it sounds like fun.

For perspective, we were at MK in January and were the only people in the standby line for Stories with Belle. Every other kid came through the FP+ line and there was only one other kid who looked to be older than 6, maybe 7. My DD gamely played the role of the wardrobe even though she was a foot taller than any other kid participating. She's a good sport. It wasn't her favorite part of the day, but she thought it was cute and funny.

The only thing that might make us choose 1900 Park Faire is that this is a mom/daughter vacation and I don't get to stay for the tea party.

My DGD went when she was 4 and she was definitely the smallest and youngest there. All the other girls were older, but everyone had a fabulous time!

Edit to add: while my DGD was having tea, my DIL and I walked over to the patio overlooking the Magic Kingdom. We had a snack and just watched the monorails coming and going. Very peaceful.

Where can I find info on this? Is it really pricy? My kids are huge Alice fans. My son loves the Mad Hatter.

FYI, if you speak to the manager at the restaurants, they most likely will happily charge you children's buffet price, or not charge you at all. I've gone with my mother who can not eat much solid food and we never had a problem.

my daughter loved this and said the character interaction was the best ever! did it last time when she was 9 i believe and wants to do it again!

That's awesome. I've read dozens of stories on the Disabilities forum saying the exact opposite -- where even adults with feeding tubs were charged full price even when they couldn't eat anything. I'm glad Disney was accommodating to your mother.

we always requested to pay the children's price....and usually they would not charge her at all!

Under Dining, go to 1900 Park Fare and click on it for additional info. The information is there. When my DGD did the Tea Party, we saw Alice later in the parade and then at the breakfast. We did the breakfast specifically for Mary Poppins, but the Mad Hatter and Alice were a treat.

Just FYI although 1900 PF breakfast has both Alice and MH, MH is now in the hall with a photographer and no longer in the dining room :(

That's too bad. He was tons of fun to watch as he toured the restaurant. They should have put Mary Poppins out front. We love her, but she doesn't add as much energy to the dining room as MH did.

I totally agree!
