Here's the story - DH and I are going to WDW this Sept. with his parents. We are going 10 nights and they are going 7 nights - we are flying down together and we were looking for the cheapest way to get around. We are planning on staying on Disney property the entire trip except for one day at Universal. This is what I came up with - tell me what you think:

Rental car P/U at MCO upon arrival; rent for three whole days with priceless code and entertainment coupon, I get a rate (with taxes) of $86.61 for full size.

Then we would each get a ride from Happy Limo at $45 (plus $9 tip) for each of us to leave from WDW to MCO on different days.

This comes to about $97.00 a couple - I have researched from all angles and this is the best option I have come up with. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

I'm not sure what the answer to your problem is. But, I see two potential problems with your plan.

First, how are you going to US? If you go in the first three days you can use the car, otherwise you'll need additional transportation.

Second, do you have to return the car at the airport? If so you'll need to arrange transportation back to Disney. That's an additional expense and you lose park time. Check to make sure the rate you have is the same if you drop the car off at a location at Disney. Sometimes they cost more money to drop off at non-airport locations.

One possible solution is to see how much it will cost to rent a car for 7 days. Your DH's parents could rent the car in their name and return it to the airport when they leave. This eliminates the cost of the towncar for them. If you want to save a little more money you and DH can take Mears to the airport at the end of your trip. It may take a little longer than a towncar but will save you money. With this scenario you'll have the car for a full week, which gives you a little more flexibility.

Thanks for the advice XStAnt; yes, we would be going to US for one of the three days we would have the rental car. I also thought of renting for 7 day or 10 day timeframe but we would need to place both DH and DF-in-law as drivers which would boost the price up a little over $80 or so and we would most likely not use the car as we actually enjoy WDW transportation. I think what I have come up with seems to be the most financially sound but not sure - any other ideas let me know - thanks again!
