Advice on RPR please

We're planning on staying at RPR October 27th-31st for my son's birthday. It will be myself, my husband, dd 14 and ds who will be 3 on the 28th. I have some questions:

Is club level worth the extra? We are Loew's 1st members and have had great rooms with the comp upgrade and requesting a few days in advance. I'm just wondering what the concierge lounge offer-we stayed club level at PBH and loved it.

Has anyone rented a cabana? I'd like to rent one while we're there and just spend a day around the pool. How do I go about reserving one before we get there? What amenities are in the cabanas, if any? Also, is there a dive in movie on Friday night at RPR?

Since it's Cave Baby's 3rd birthday on the 28th, can we arrange something special for him in the room that morning? Something like a balloon or gift delivery before we do the character breakfast.

The club level here is very similar to the one at Portofino (I actually like this one better). The have the traditional club room that you can go to. The offer a continental breakfast (juice, coffee, cereal, fruit, pastries, yogurt, granola, hot cinnamon buns, etc...). Free soft drinks & snacks are available throughout the day. In the early evening they have beer, wine, cheese plate, fruit, chips & salsa, etc... Later in the eveing they offer a variety of desserts. As for if it is worth it, it really depends on the room rate that is available. We just love the convience & the extra room for the kids.

If you stay club level there is a discount on the cabana fee. The cabanas come with a few sodas, a fruit "basket", towels, tv, refrig, chairs, and small table. Therre are only a few of them at this resort so I would book early. FYI you can not see the movie from any of the cabanas.

Club level is subjective depending on a few things.
Recently, people have been reporting that many guests are greedy, show up in their pajamas, hog all the food, and take extra back to their room. This leaves none for the people who show up after them.

The other thing that ticks people off, is there are two computers in the club room that have internet access. People put their kids in front of the computers as a baby sitter, leaving no access to other guests who want to log in here and say what a great time they are having.
These little things may ruin your trip if you let it get to you. If you can ignore it, and the price is right, then go for it.

If the differance between club and a regular room is too expensive, don't worry about it. You can stop on the way, visit the Publix grocery store, and pack a cooler.

I don't think the RPR has dive in movies. I've never heard of it, but the pool has basketball hoops, a volley ball net, and the ship to walk around. Don't know how to reserve the cabana, but they are nice. Most of them have a table, a couple chairs, TV, and fruit basket. You also have a waiter who will ask if you want to order food from the poolside restaurant.

The RPR does have dive in movies...at least the past 3 times I have been there.

We stayed at RPR Club level for 4 nights in August....for us it was well worth the cost. I did not go to the parks at Universal, but my daughters and friends did, so I had a lot of time to kill and enjoyed having the lounge to work in (I had brought a lot of work along on the trip). The concierge staff was excellent and met our every request. They would be happy to arrange any BD suprise you might want I am sure (a lady I visited with one AM was telling me how she had asked the concierge to have some balloons and a small BD basket placed in the room for her son....they outdid themselves according to the mom). They can also reserve the cabana's for you.

In spite of the fact that the club floor was completely full while we were there, the lounge was never crowded, the food offerings were always kept stocked (and they were awesome). And we had no evidence of the "pigs to the trough" crowd that we have experienced at several Disney concierge lounges and the HRH (it was the WORST we have EVER seen at HRH)

They have signs up by the computers that they request you keep your session to 15 minutes if others are waiting and while several times I did see kids sort of park themselves there the staff was very careful to gently "redirect them" when others were waiting for time.

They did have dive in movies 2 or 3 nights a week during the summer. Not sure if they will continue into October.

All in all it was our best Universal hotel experience ever and I would not hesitate to go back....the concierge service was superb.
