Advice on Itinerary and Which MM Day

Hi everyone. We are looking at going to DLR the 2nd week of September. Right now I have purchased 2 3-day park hoppers. I was originally planning on being in the park Tuesday - Thursday. However, hubby really wants to see Fantasmic! so I thought we could do Wednesday - Friday instead. If we do that, DL will only have MM on Thursday while we are there. I was trying to pick which days to start at which park and be able to avoid EMH at CA. Original plan was this:

Wednesday – start at Disneyland
Thursday – Start at California Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy Fast Pass
Friday – Start at Disneyland. Blue Bayou dining package for Fantasmic!

But then I realized that MM was on Thursday so that messes up this schedule. How bad is it to start at CA when EMH are there that day?

Another thought was to add a day to my 3-day park hopper and do MM at Disneyland on Tuesday and still keep my CA start on Thursday. So then my schedule would look like this:

Tuesday - MM at DL
Wednesday – start at DL
Thursday – Start at CA, GOTG and RSR would be priorities so would want to get FP
Friday – Start at DL. Blue Bayou dining package for Fantasmic!

If I upgrade the pass, how would I figure out how much more it would be? I got my tickets from LMTC before the price went up. Would I just have to pay the difference between the park prices of a 3 or 4 day pass? Or between the price I actually paid and the park price for the 4 day?

I know this is confusing and I hope what I am asking makes sense! Thanks for any insight and advice!!

Back before they started doing FPs during EMH it wasn't bad at all. But now, you're looking at return times farther than two hours out at park opening for GotG and RSR, meaning you cannot pull a second FP until 11:00 am (and GotG FPs are gone or close to it by then - RSR is lasting longer). So if those things are important to you, a day of EMH at DCA that you can't access really puts you at a disadvantage.

I'd do the 4 day tickets if possible. Disneyland doesn't *usually* price bridge but sometimes they do. I'd start by figuring out what the current price difference is from a 3 day to a 4 day - that's the least you'll have to pay. Then I'd try and see how much you actually paid for you tickets and what a 4 day is now - that's the most you'll have to pay. Decide if you're comfortable with the second number and if you are go for it and be happy if the number is the first one.

Then I'd follow the plan that puts you at DCA on a non-EMH day to start and if you're not comfortable with the upgrade cost I'd forfeit the MM to get the DCA time.

When are you going? Fantasmic's start date still hasn't been announced so no guarantees on when it will return.

No please don't post it forever then post it twice. Super helpful lol.

Double post.

We're going the 2nd week of September. Either Tue-Fri or add a day so Mon-Fri.

So Fantasmic will probably be back then - no guarantees of course. I personally would do a 4 day ticket if you're comfortable with the price difference - I prefer more park days to allow some downtime during the day and soak up more of the atmosphere.

Keep in mind that we're in summer season right now and every AP still has access most days, so it's entirely possible that FPs for GotG are going a lot faster than they will be in September. I'll be interested in seeing how fast they disappear when the SoCal people are blocked out.

Has anyone actually upgraded the tickets bought through LMT? Wondering what they do for the price difference. You can't really tell by looking at the ticket that I received where it was bought. And the main extra cost would be the hotel for one extra night.

Also you could keep your 3-day tickets and take a day off to go to the beach or do something different. Do MM on Tuesday, take Wednesday off, start at DCA on Thursday, and see Fantasmic! on Friday.

I thought of that too but I would rather be at the park then anywhere else in So Cal. I'm from Nor Cal so I visit down there a lot.
