Advice on Cast Members Discount

Hi all

I just found out that my college-age niece is in the Disney College Program right now, she'll be there til beginning of January. We were all thrilled to hear of this, especially my 3 kids, who think it's way cool that their cousin has been playing Pooh and Chip at Disney World! Anyway, my sister was telling me that if we were planning a trip to Disney, we should do it while my niece is there, as she gets Cast Member discounts on resorts and tickets.

I haven't had a chance to email my niece and find out what type of discounts this would amount to.

My question : is there anyone on the boards here familiar with what type of discount Cast Members receive? We were thinking it had to be more than 10 %, but probably less than 50 %. Any type of significant discount would allow us, 1. To actually go sooner rather than later, and 2. To stay at The Contemporary once more, which our family loves.

Any information would be most appreciated! Thank you.

The ticket discount is minimal.. like 15% or so... something like that.

Room discounts can vary based on availability but the top end friends & family discount is , I believe, 40%.

There is a top end CM discount is 50% that applies IF the CM is actually staying in the room.

These go quickly and are limited availability. So you must book fairly far out. Your CM niece can check the employee 'portal' or internal website for more information and to check availability.

yes, the ticket discount is not that much, but the resort room discount is more. to get the reduced tickets, she needs to purchase them at "Company D" which is a backstage company store. she can do that anytime.

for the room discount, i usually get a 50% discount on most locations. as her family, you can take advantage of this, my prents and aunt did while i was on the program. PM me if you would like the details...

Sue Ellen is correct about the tickets. I've bought alot of tickets from Co. D when hubby worked for the Company. As for the rooms. If the CM is not in the room the discount were 25% and 40% off, (with the 40% rooms going quickly). Not sure if 2008 is available yet, but should be soon. It can be booked on the portal/hub. Cast usually have a very good supply of rooms to choose from. Often in January the CMs get their holiday resort discount and has been up to 60% off, but the CM must be staying in the room. If your neice was to get 2 rooms on a reservation, this would apply for both rooms. CMs are only allowed to book a "friends and family" reservation 5 times a year. However, CMs can book reservations for themselves (meaning they are at least checking into the room and are on the reservation) as many times as they want. If your relative books your room, they have to fax a copy of their ID prior to you checking in, or be there to check you in. We use to get rooms for our friends and family often and we were asked for our ID EVERY TIME. We do miss the resort discount, but I just can't get hubby to get a job with the Company again. (He said 7+ years was enough for him---but secretly he loved it!)

I'll try to clarify things a little for you. I gonna be doing the wdwcp the same time to but i dont leave untill the end of august. I have already looked at the discounts when i log into the website. we are allowed to bring up to 3 guest into the park 6 times (any 6 six, tho during busy time you may not be able to) during our cp for free. The website says since the discount rate changes, they cant specify at this time what the discount would be on daily tickets. Resorts are UP TO 40% off depending on when the date is i assume. also there is a 20% discount on food and merchandise. In order to recieve these discounts the CM must be with you. hope that helps!

My brother's a cast member. He receives 40% off hotel rooms, 50% if he's with us in the room. Tickets are very minimal and, in my opinion, not worth it. My brother usually gets us in for free with his main gate pass.

To get the discounts on food and merchandise, the CM actually has to be the one paying. At least that was what we were told when we went two weeks ago to visit my DS currently doing the CP.
