Not sure I can be of much help. I bought a digital frame for my dad for Christmas - Macy's had one on sale about a month ago, PanDigital 6.1 on sale for $59.99. My father is VERY technology-challenged - years ago when his company wanted him to learn to use a computer, he took early retirement so he wouldn't have to touch a computer!
Anyway, this PanDigital is nice enough for him. It has a 128mb internal memory, but it also accepts a whole bunch of memory cards. I got an SD card and loaded a whole bunch of photos on it for him. You can also record music to the memory card and the music plays during the slideshow.
What I don't like (and it's something you don't know until you actually use the thing) is that it's set up mainly for landscape-oriented photos. For portrait photos, it cuts off the bottom of the photo. Fortunately, most of the photos I loaded to the SD card are landscape, so it's not too big of a deal. Now if I bought this for myself, I wouldn't like it one bit.
This one also has a timer - you can leave it plugged in and set it to show the slideshow only during certain times. Also has an alarm, but I haven't tried that out yet.
I would think that the more expensive frames would be able to accommodate portrait shots without just cutting off the bottom, and would probably also have a higher resolution screen, too.
Hopefully by next year the expensive frames will come down enough in price that I can actually buy one for myself!
