Help which hotel?
LOng story...will try to make my needs know with out a lot of words! We are going to DIsney March 27th but staying at Fort Wilderness in a motor home...Friends of ours really want to come but with it being such short notice they don't know where to stay..Some back ground she is diagnosed with cancer and the out look doesn't look great. She has been out of work for while and funds are tight but she wants to do this trip with her family her kids are 5 and 8. While she is still able. We don't have room in the Motor home my parents are coming with us. Plus I don't think she would get the rest she would need with all of us!
She is looking at the moderates.
1. Which one has the easiest transportation? We will take our car to the parks so that way if she needs to go back and rest one of us can take her but due to scheduling they have to arrive 2 days before us so they will be on their own.
2. Which one has the best pools for theming. I really see them spending most of their time at the pools and only a few hours each day in the parks. So to get the feel for Disney is one pool area better than another?
3. What about Allstar resorts? Would you say this would be a good choice? But how is the transportation?
4. Do all the resorts have food courts or is that just in the budget resorts?
Lots of questions I know but we are FW people all the way so I know nothing about the hotels. Any information would be helpfull!

Doesn't FW have cabins. Could they stay there. that way they would be closer to you and it would be easier to coordiate things.

First off, my condolences to your friend with her prognosis. I know that must be really hard on her kids.

If she is looking for relaxation, I would say go for one of the moderates or what robsmom said about the FW cabin.

As far as moderates, I would recommend Coronado Springs as a good choice. They have the largest pool I believe out of all the moderates. Pretty much with any of the moderates and value, you will be relying on bus transportation.

That being said, being this is a trip she really wants to do with her kids before she passes, I'm leaning toward's recommending a deluxe. It might be a nice gift from you if you could raise some money to put them in a deluxe room. I'm not sure what either your or her finances are, but the best pool in WDW is at Y&BC. The FW cabin costs actually a little more than the CR standard room. I would recommend putting them up at WL with a nice woods view. That would put them near you and they get the wonderful atmosphere of WL.

Do you guys have common friends? It wouldn't cost a lot per person to do this for them, at least upgrade them based on what they would have spent on a moderate or All-Stars. Speak with a CM at CRO. Maybe they will also be nice a spread some pixie dust her way. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I know the cabins would be nice but with the location to everthing in FW it would make it hard I think. Plus the pools have no theming at all and you are in a camp ground. We love it but but I don't think it would be the best choice.
As for getting money together that would be very tough this short notice. Plus we all have been helping out in so many ways. Also I don't think my friend would want that type of help at this point. We have no idea where she is headed medically. She is in a clinical trail and getting good results but with melenoma you are never cured. She will be battling this for the rest of her life. Right now her main problems is fatique it really hits her hard. Thanks

My heart goes out to her and her family - I think the WL if they can swing the upgrade would be best. They will be close to you and the theming at the WL will thrill her and her kids. Its really beautiful. Also there isnt a lot of walking around - everything is located pretty close to the lobby. At a lot of the moderates there is a lot of walking involved to get to restaurants, pool etc. Although I'm sure if they explained their situation Disney would accomodate them. I hope you all enjoy your trip whatever you choose.

The WL would be nice, but since you will be at different resorts you won't be able to use the same pools. Would that be a problem?

I know we won't be able to use the same pools, for my family the swimming isn't the main thing the parks and the water parks are what we are there for. Plus they want to arrive on Sat and we are arriving late Sunday. Also we don't plan to spend all of our time together. The main reason we are trying to be there at the same time or over lap is so if her kids want to go to the parks with out her they can come with us. Also her kids will have someone to ride with. I know it is hard to explain. Her husband or her mom will be coming with her also.
When we booked our trip way back I had no idea they would even think of planning a trip or even be able to travel. Also it may end up we aren't there at the same time if she can't get airfare and the hotel and a resonable price.
Our goal is to over lap. Also at this stage I know mornings are hardest on her so if they are staying a hotel with easy access to food and swimming it will give her family somethign to do. their kids can swim and she can sit and watch or if she needs to actually rest her husband can watch the kids at the pool.

She might want to try POFQ. It is the smallest of the moderates so there would be much less walking and the kids should really enjoy the pool. We stayed there a few years ago and had a great time. Don't remember what building number we were in but it was right next to the food court, behind bus stop, and only a few minute walk to the pool. Very convenient. The food court was fine and the boat ride to DTD is very relaxing.

Wishing the best to you both.
