... and I travel via ME to OKW, check-in, and head towards an ADR... what is the earliest I could make an ADR at Ohana and make it in time?

I figure if plane lands at 7:15, I'll be at OKW by 8pm at the LATEST... checkin (should be fairly quick at that late hour) hope on 1 MK bus and head to poly via monorail for a 9pm ADR. Does that sound doable? (I will also hail a taxi if need be to make it in time.)

Thoughts? Is that doable? My arrival day is a MK EMH evening, so I figured at 9pm adr at poly, hop to mk for 11pm wishes... enjoy emh for a bit before heading back to OKW.

Is it too much for an arrival day? (FYI - we have a late flight leaving PHL (4:30pm) so the kids will sleep-in that morning so they will not be overly tired from a long travel day.)

(Last trip..the late EMH at MK was my favorite part of trip! My kids had a BLAST!)

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but I don't see any way you could make a 9:00pm ADR, 9:30 would be the absolute earliest in my opinion. Working from your arrivial time, I'm guessing you won't be in your villa at OKW until 9:00pm, and that's if eveything goes smoothly. I might be completley off, in fact I hope I am :) but that seems awfully optimistic to think you would be checked in and ready to leave for the Poly 45- 60 min after your plane is scheduled to land.

I'm looking for honest opinions...so THANKS!!:thumbsup2

I wasn't intending on actually going to the villa though... b/c we have a studio that night...and checkin to 1BR the next morning...so, I don't mind not getting to studio villa till much later.... we don't even plan on opening our luggage until the next day when we check in to 1br, that night in studio is literally just a "bed to sleep on" until the next morning when the "real vacatiion" begins:banana: . Does that make sense?

Yeah, I agree with you on that. We usually figure about an hour from the time we get off the plane and get down to DME to the resort.

I waited ON the ME bus about 30 minutes before it left. The bus had about 20 people on it when I got on, so there were people waiting longer for it to leave than I did. Making an ADR that morning at a resort other than the one I was staying at would be too stressful for me, if I were using Disney transporation. Is a taxi possible? If your room was ready, and at OKW, we have had some early check ins with room available, could you really leave the resort without looking at your room? I don't think we could!

Bobbi:goodvibes

Do you actually have to check in before you go to your ADR? Would not hurt to call and see if you can ride the DME bus directly to the Poly. I have never tried doing this but it may be possible. Never hurts to try.

I wonder could you get on an ME bus going to the Poly and go straight to your ADR and then check in later at OKW when you're finished at MK? Obviously still tag your luggage for OKW. I'm betting if you asked at the ME desk they'd let you do that.

Wonder if I could hop a poly bus?!?!? That could work great!

I got ADR's for 9:30pm... that should give me PLENTY of time! Right?!

I wouldn't do it, but I can't eat that late at night without feeling ill for the next day. And my kids won't sleep in on a day we leave for Disney regardless of when we leave - they are like hamsters on speed all day.

If I weren't flying in unti 7:15, we'd be having a light dinner at the airport before even getting on the plane, and then another light dinner when we arrive at the resort. Then we'd fall into bed exhausted.

Yes, but I'm looking forward to some late sleepers b/c they have NO IDEA we're going to Disney that day, and they won't until they see the airport!:thumbsup2

I plan to let them sleep till about 10am (which they will do if I don't wake them.) And they almost always sleep on the plane (which will be from 4:30 till 7:15) and knowing my kids they'll be BEGGING to go see MK as soon as we step off the plane.

However, I agree about eating that late at night.. might not be smart. I'll have to rethink, maybe it's better to hit CS at MK that night... hmmmmm....

Even with rested children, I would spend my evening at OKW. I'd eat at Olivia's, maybe take the boat to DTD, and if it's a good time of year get the kids into the main pool with the sandcastle slide. I'd save a major park for the am.

Are your kids older that you're planning on the EMH at MK? What time of year is your visit? Don't know how late it will be open, but I think Columbia Harbor House has lovely options for CS.

OK I see the kids are young and it's a June visit. I still think beginning your vacation well-rested is a way to optimize the experience. It sounds like you can't wait to get to MK too! Know that feeling...

I asked the cast member who was standing in at the airport enrty line if I could just hop the Contemporary bus becasue we wanted to eat at the Steak house for lunch. I got a no problem from him and we were off. I checked my carry on bags at the bell stand and had a great lunch!

The problem that I didn't think out was the return trip to the boardwalk..... I had to hop a downtown disney bus and then a boardwalk bus from there... with my carry-ons in tow. It was a pretty big pain and took over 60 minutes to make the trip.

If I had to do it again I'd relax at my home resort, or pay the 20 bucks for a taxi back to my resort after my meal. I hope that helps!

I wouldn't bother with trying to get checked in and run off to Ohanas for a dinner ressie. Do it another night. There are some many variables that are our of your control. We've always had bad luck with planes leaving late and arriving late so we don't usually make dinner plans for the first night that we arrive. I'd hate to be stressing out about having to be somewhere as soon as I got to Florida. I'm sure you'll have a great time at OKW. :)

This is just my opinion....we arrive at 10:40 am and made an adr at 3:30pm at captain jacks (one we wouldn't mind missing if the plane was late). My kids are older and they had to remind me we are going on vacation. They would love to go to MK right away but then stated why don't we hang out by the pool then take the boat to DTD or vice versa depending on our arrival time. :goodvibes So that means mom with the notecards has to wait until the next day to begin her nutzieness:rotfl: :rotfl: I don't think thats even a word.
Ok sorry long story short been there done that with 2 little ones not a good idea, take it easy arrival day and hit the ground running in the AM. Have a great time:flower3:

Don't do it, too much can go wrong. My saga from February....

Had flight on Feb 12 leaving OKC at 10 AM arriving in Orlando at 4:30 PM. Nasty weather occurs in midwest - neither in OKC or Orlando, but it makes a mess in Kansas where I'm supposed to change planes, so they cancel my flight out of OKC and switch me to one through Houston, which leaves OKC at 11:20 AM. Finally leave OKC, change planes in Houston, route through New Orleans (more bad weather) and finally land in Orlando after 6:30 PM. I am the first one on the ME bus, sit there for over thirty minutes while other passengers arrive. Bus stops at GF and Poly to drop off other passengers, with VWL (my stop) for last. Arrived at nearly 8:30 PM.

Had I made an ADR for 6 PM (90 minutes after my scheduled arrival) I certainly would have missed it - and been a nervous wreck. Thankfully I had a backpack with a couple of books so I just decided to go with the flow, let Southwest and ME be in charge of the trip, and took it easy.

As a postcript, of course my luggage was quite delayed also (finally showed up in Orlando after midnight) so I was sure glad to have an Owners Locker waiting for me.

I would still have a backup plan for dinner as flights that late in the day tend to be running on the late side. JMO

Travel day is an exciting, exhausting day. Spend the evening at OKW, the kids will love you for it!

Flights never leave PHL on time. But that's why you flight is 2:45 hrs, I think they are taking into account your time on the ground.

Thunderstorms are common during summer evenings and can delay your arrival. I have a 5:30 arrival and I know I won't get into a park until 8pm. No ADRs for me that night.

I would personally just make ADRs for another night. Flights get canceled, baggage is delayed, DME buses are late, hotel rooms are not ready...there's just too many "ifs" involved.

"...hamsters on speed..." lol, that describes my dh when we go to WDW or DLR. Our last trip we took a red eye and he was up all nite he was so excited, but he said that a passenger who was reading with the light on kept him up.
But back OT, eating at Ohana's at 9pm if you could get there, is a lot of food even if you didn't eat all of it plus the kids wouldn't be able to enjoy all the antics that go on. Plan another night at Ohana.
