Ok so I've camped before but not at Disney and is sounds like they make it so "easy". Still, I have questions because I'm obviously not looking in the right places.

1. Is there a place to do dishes?
2. What is the fastest way to get from the camp sites to say magic kingdom? We'll probably test it out when we get there but just wondered.
3. Every site have a grill? Are they like the old traditional ones?
4. Go carts? Huh? I've seen this on the boards. How much do the cost and are they worth it?
5. Any other advice/things I should know?

Thank you!

Welcome!

1. No dish washing stations that I recall. When we were in our pop-up we washed dishes at our site and dumped the gray water in the biog sink in the laundry rooms at the comfort stations. I'm fairly sure this is still what you need to do...but maybe someone else can chime in.

2. MK - boats from the marina. You can ride a bike, a golf cart, walk if you're close enough, or take an internal bus to the "Settlement" area to get there. All other points, same mode of transport to the "Outpost" area and catch a Disney bus (or take a car)

3. I believe so, again someone else may chime in. We bring our own little Weber Q grill so I don't remember exactly.

4. Golf Carts - available for rental from Disney or outside rental companies. A way to get around the Fort. We've never used one and get around just fine on our bikes, but that's a personal choice that you'll want to make for your family.

5. Careful, you'll fall in love with the Fort :) Just a special place! Take along s'mores fixings and hit the campfire singalong. take along some fishing gear and drop in a line, rent a canoe and explore the waterways around the Fort, plan to hit the parks and come back and relax in a way that no other resort can offer :)

1. PP is right. Wash dishes at your site dump the water at the laundry or bathrooms.

2. PP right again. Bus to Epcot, DHS, AK, DTD and boat to MK.

3. It's the standard State Park type grill.

4. Golf Carts from WDW are about $65.00 a day/ about half that from outside vendors. If you're gonna be in the parks a lot it might not be worth it. If you're gonna explore The Fort a lot it's worth it.

5. Have fun, relax and enjoy everything the fort has to offer.

Thanks for this great advice! So then what's the best place on the loop to be located?

Ok other questions that just popped.

Ice? Is this accessible and are their costs associated?

Are there fire pits in addition to the grills? I assume every site has its own grill?

The Fort is primarily one huge loop, but individual loops hold the campsites and cabins. If you're asking about a location within the Fort, it depends on what you want to be close to...the Meadows activity /pool area, or the Marina/Settlement, or closer to the Outpost/Check-in area. If you're asking about a camping loop, it depends on what you want to be close to or away from... The Comfort Station, the bus stop, the main roads. Either way you can put in a REQUEST, which the CM's will attempt to honor, but no guarantees. If you have a special need...handicapped access for example, put that in you reservation request.
Ice is available at both Trading Posts and from machines at all CS's (bags provided). Ice at the Trading posts comes in a slightly larger bag and is frozen somewhat colder so it lasts longer. Machine ice costs $2.00 in quarters. Trading Post ice cost a little more, but you get more. Also All CS's have laundries with washers and dryers that also eat quarters at $2.00 per load each. Coin changers are available in the laundries, as are laundry supplies. We used to use Purex 3-in-1 sheets, but hey have been discontinued. My DW bought up a bunch on Amazon recently.

No fire pits at the fort (fire safety issues). If you want to roast marshmallows, they have a campfire with a movie/singalong every night near the pool. You can bring your own supplies.

Every site does have its own grill.

I've camped at FW several times and didn't realize that you could rent a golf cart from an outside vendor. Who has done this and how did you go about it? Thanks in advance!!!

We have been thinking about taking a weekend to camp there with our boys. We are FL residents, and only about 6 hours away. We don't have a camper, though, and we were wondering what it would be like to "tent" it out there?? Do they have a shower facility?

Ice is available via vending machine at the comfort stations, or at the shops in the campground by the bag.

They have great shower facilities.

Most people use Kenny. I have not personally.

We have used Kenny for our last two visits. You have to have a Hakuna Matata attitude when using Kenny, but he always comes through and he's half the price of Disney. I also like having a cart that's easily distinguishable from the FW green ones.
