Please don't laugh, but I'm just starting out scrapping. A friend was doing a Creative Memories order, and I found the cute Disney albums (2x3 and the medium sized one). My order arrived on Monday, and they invited me out Friday night to fill the books up. Needless to say, I'm now hooked! I worked on my medium sized book and completed 4 pages with pictures, and have 3 more pages that I must add pics to.

My question is - other than papers and theme stickers, what items should I invest in and what should I just wait til their monthly get together to use? I purchased a corner clipper, and a picture trimmer, along with the Dis Milestones kit (journaling, etc.) and the Dis die cutter / punch.

I found myself using the oval cuts and circles quite a bit so that would be my next venture. Any recommendations on these? Are there cheaper ones out there versus the Creative Memories items?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't use most Creative Memories stuff, but I have their circles, ovals, wavy and mat and love them. If I was just starting out, aside from a pair of cutter bee sharp scissors, the CM Cutting system (yes, the whole thing) would be my first major purchase. And the Daisy tool tote to put them in. There may be 'cheaper' circle cutters, but I don't think there's 'better' and believe me, I've tried a few!

I do agree that if you MUST have a circle/oval cutting system, the CM one is the best. That said.... do you really need it? I got the oval cutter for Christmas many moons ago (at least 4 years ago) and I probably haven't used it in about 2 years.

Think about it before you invest. And if you do decide you want it, maybe you could find it cheaper on Ebay?? CM stuff is really nice, but expensive.

Try to stick with the scrapping for a few more months to find your "scrapping mo-jo" before you invest a lot of $$. You may find that ovals and circles aren't really your thing... or maybe they are... but at least by then you will be a bit more sure about what you want/need.

For now, stick with just the basics.... a good pair of scissors, a good trimmer, a good sturdy ruler, a few journaling pens, some adhesive and some basic supplies (cardstock, patterned paper, maybe a few themed stickers if you are doing just Disney). You can add more as you need it... but it is easy to get overwhelmed with the "stuff" as you start scrapping... and it can easily become a "collection" instead of a hobby! HTH..........P

Seems like you have a good basic collection. I'd maybe add some cardstock and a 12" cutter (you could just get basic Disney colours - red, black, white and yellow - Close to my Heart does a Disney pack I think, and some stamps, and they can be reused for cards etc.)

Like Pjilla said, it can beconme a bit of a collection:rolleyes1 I have the CM circle and oval plus one other set, and my friends tend to just come and use mine!
