Well they either learned something that I didn't, or they overstepped on that one! LOL I talked to her about going to Disney in December to help train the Moms Panel and she asked if we all were going. I explained that no, we'd rotated on special events throughout the year (meaning last year).

Heather, that is so funny!! Dontcha just love the way a story can grow from so little info!! Oh well, it was a great story anyway, it's just nice that we've got the source right here among us to straighten out the facts

Welcome, Vicky! And, greetings to all of the other semi-finalists, who recently came out of hiding. Thanks for introducing yourselves!!

Do you mean to tell me that you had this incredible secret [about advancing in the contest] when you posted a few moments ago [#2700], and you kept it to yourself!?! (For shame! ) Seriously, though, thanks for entrusting us with your happy news. It's 'kinda nice to discover a whole community of people who totally "get" your passion for all things Disney, huh?

About wondering if you might "jinx" yourself by stepping forward: If it's any consolation, I had similar concerns last year when I progressed to round two of the contest. Of course, I lurked on the DISboards (as I have for years) like a crazy, obsessed woman, but I opted not to step forward until well after my elimination from the contest. (And, of course, I then wondered if maybe it would have been helpful to introduce myself after all... ) If you ever figure out the formula for attracting Disney's attention (in a good way of course! ), I am certain that oodles inquiring minds would love to know about it!

I agree with Ang, though. Overall, the story was a positive, feel-good piece! And, we're fortunate enough to be tapped into the source.

I bet that any journalistic inaccuracies make the Disney team cringe, though...

I got my reject letter today as well. I'm guessing no one is feeling too sorry for me.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but Laura shows up today on the Moms Panel site as a "Past Panel Member." Her presence on the site will be sorely missed!!

I wouldn't worry about coming out of lurkdom. Several of the current panelists (myself included) were openly posting about being in the process and we still made it. I didn't, and probably wouldn't advise, telling others too much about the process - what the questions are, etc. I don't know if it would matter or not, but just in casse I didn't share the details.

Did anyone know if the first contact telling you are on round 3 will be by email or by phone? I am not quite sure my phone number is OK on my Disney profile, there are so many numbers you have to dial for international calls that it was not enough space on the form and now I am worried they couldnt be able to reach me by phone and quit calling me---"blah, lets not complicate ourselves calling the peruvian lady...too far away"---

I am in TEARS! Happy tears. Wow is that video touching. I was a bit choked up yesterday when I received an "official" email from Laura for Moms Panel business. Actually seeing her name tag and arrival..WOW. Now, I've got the lip quivering and all.

Hi Vicky! There are a lot of small towns outside Lima : to the north Huaral, Huacho and Barranca are the main ones. And to the south Cañete, Chincha, Pisco and many more. Lima is a huge city...but could you believe Bret's peruvian family lives just blocks from me and his girls go to the same school of my DD8 when they come to Peru? It IS a small world after all!!!!

OK, here is my confession - don't laugh. In addition to the Disney attire (I have two special Disney shirts that are as old as dirt), I am sitting in my office with three computers: 1) work; 2) home computer - with this thread open at all times with a separate tab with my main email address; 3) home laptop with my alternate email up (where my Disney email will end up). While working from home, I can hear a beep as emails arrive and take a quick glance either way to see if I need to get excited. I feel like I'm manning an airliner cockpit but it seems to work!

But that's not all. I also have my shrine in place. It contains all moms panel emails from this year and last, I printed off some color logos, my consolation gift from last year, my Mickey Moms stuff, a candle, etc. I add to it as appropriate. For example, when Kim and Laura mentioned the phrase 'Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust', I printed it out in a beautiful, colorful font.

And of course I do a lot of quirky little things...like my password for work (which I use at least 100 times a day!) contains 'Moms Panel' within.

Boy, maybe this was TMI!!!

Nope, can't say that I feel TOO sorry for ya' there Bret! Are you telling me you actually applied again this year--you nut???

...and I did notice immediately that Laura was "MIA" on the Moms site...but found her pretty quickly.

I liked reading through her answers again...I'd forgotten how much business experience she has had...boy, they picked the right apple off the tree, didn't they?
