I swear...ever since I turned 30, it's like I'm slowly morphing into Mother Earth incarnate. I do yoga 4-5 times a week and I'm really enjoying it.
I've also recently picked up knitting. I'm self-taught..well..sort of. Web and book taught is more like it.

My first attempt at making anything was going to be just a simple, square-ish potholder type thing.
It turned into The Knitting That Ate Tokyo.

When I cast on, I cast on only 29 stitches. When I finished and bound off, there were so many stitches I could just barely fit them on the needle. I'm not even sure I know how I did that. :confused3

Using some left over decorative cord (left over from my booty bag project), I sewed the whole thing into a roundish, squishy, upside down showercap looking thing. I knitted a handle (3 stitches and about 25 rows, I think) which I attached with decorative cord as well.

I've moved on to attempting to perfect purling. Purling isn't quite as difficult as I thought it was going to be, although it does make my hands sore.
I also seem to be picking up mystery stitches again..although this time it seems to be limited to two. I cast on 28 stitches (I'm making a scarf now) and now I have 30. Fortunately, I seem to have acquired 2 and only 2. I've knit and purled probably 15 rows now and not picked up any hitchhiking stitches.

And this was taken several days later..my scarf is now about 1/3rd of the way done, mostly in 2X2 ribbing with a bit of seed stitch thrown in for the heck of it.

I realize the edges are kind of meh. I'm still making some mistakes, but not nearly as many as I did with The Knitting That Ate Toyko bag.:woohoo:

New crafts are always an adventure :rotfl:

I've crocheted for quite a while and I'm taking up knitting now too, my edges look about the same!
