Adventures by Disney South East Asia blog

Still reading along. Enjoying your travels very much. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks PIO - was a little hesitant about blogging my cranky mood yesterday for all to see but it is what it it is. Sitting in the hotel room now ready for tai chi : all geared up in fetching navy pjs

I think it's just as important to document the bad as well as the good :thumbsup2 We all know that every day of a holiday is not going to be perfect.

Sorry you had a couple of things go wrong today, but it sounds like you enjoyed the dinner and water puppet show. I think your son is very adventurous ordering frogs legs and squid steak

I agree. Bad mood or not, it's all part of the experience. We've all.....er.....I've definitely.....been there,

Your day and pictures are great; especially of the tai chi poses.

I wish my clothing size issues were as easily fixed as unbuttoning the top. :rotfl:

Apparently the guides spent some time rearranging the sizes provided. They did a pretty good job - we have a wide range of sizes on this trip, with a few mismatched top and bottom sizes, so it was a pretty impressive effort for two youngish guys!

Could not resist posting a pic of the " too small shirt" although the photo quality is dodgy

We were so disappointed that we weren't able to fit Laos into our trip this time around. We had to choose between that and Cambodia. So I'm thrilled to be able to live vicariously through your TR :thumbsup2

Have enjoyed catching up with your blog. Zanzibar confess have to still get up to date with yours, I am way behind. I do notice how different austraveler, your experience is to that of my daughters, who did a backpackers style trip to Vietnam and Laos and Cambodia last year. Neither are better or worse than the other - they are just very different and include different things! Now I can take the best from both (and Zanzibar's experiences) when we go.......

Interesting to hear about an ABD too-they always sounded very good and your experience is showing that they do include lots of different experiences but I must admit the cost has put me off in the past. I think I would do one in certain locations and not in others depending what I wanted to get out of the holiday. Musing over...looking forward to reading more.

I've just caught up and read all of your blog posts:)

I must say having the Disney service would be a big plus for me, I really don't like all of the mundane travel bits like airports and luggage;) And the wash/dry/press service is luxurious!

As always, I think it just comes down to personal preference and priorities. I prefer the flexibility of independent travel, and also enjoy staying at smaller boutique style hotels, or more unique accommodation. However, there are many countries where I would feel unsafe travelling independently, and would definitely consider doing an ABD tour then if we could afford it :thumbsup2

Wendy, once you've caught up on my TR, you'll probably notice that our experience would fall somewhere in between your daughter's and Austraveler's.

I was very unsure about taking the ABD. We have never done grip travel, I am a bit of a travel control freak and other people's children often annoy me. Somehow I am loving this trip. It may be the small group size (23) and the flexibility of the guides. We cancelled a temple today because no one wanted to go, we changed the dinner one night because another option sounded better etc. a few people did Marble mountain on their own in the afternoon in stead of with the group in the morning and Disney reimbursed them

I do agree that some destinations are better than others for this style of travel. I would never do the USA, Italy or France. The Prague, Vienna one looks interesting though .....

It certainly seems like you're having a great time :thumbsup2

I've been eyeing off the ABD tours in South and Central America and Africa :goodvibes

It's always interesting to find out if the ABD's are worth the money. Glad it works out for you.

You sure did earn your karma today! How long did the alms giving go for?

So the deaf children can't communicate with their own families? That is sad :sad2:

Did you enjoy the waterfall? It's definitely on my to-do list when we eventually go. It looks beautiful from the photos I've seen.
