Adventures at 40"! May 2014 TR *COMPLETE* 9/10 **NEW** Italy ABD TR link posted 9/29

I love hearing about the use of the 4th FP!! It seems this is actually potentially a thing.

Geez, my meet up with Brenda isn't feeling so special anymore, lol. Seriously though, so awesome you had a meet and YES she is there a lot including NOW!!!

AH LOVE the ToT fake out. Best addition ever.

No better place to meet up with an old friend that WDW, that's for sure.

Disney Jr. looks adorable! Love the pics!

YAY BRENDA! So awesome you got to meet her, though it's just not fair how good her hair looks in the rain hahaha.

We had the same issue at Backlot Express...it's 11:15! Feeeed us!

That's so fun that you got to see an old friend! That ride sequence would have terrified me though  I get scared enough on TOT as it is.

Looks like Paxton really enjoyed the Disney Jr Show. Great pictures. Time to admit I have never read or watched Gone with the wind. Maybe I should?? The great movie ride itself is just pretty okay to me. I don't mind riding it when we do but wouldn't be sad if we skipped it most trips. I love when my son requests photos, the more random the better...haha. Paxtons Lightening bucket is too cute. Its all about packaging with kids. I think if I put broccoli in treasure chest and told DS it was Jake's treasure he would gobble a piece up :)

Now its time for me to find your Gatlinburg trip. We are taking DS for the first time next month as a bit of a babymoon before baby 2 is born. :) I know we are doing Dixie Stampede for sure. Everytime we go to plan what else to do we end up talking restaurants so evidently we plan to do nothing but eat all week haha.

Oh wow, I LOVE your photos of WL. I really want to stay there one day.

And Florida weather is so crazy, 69 degrees in May? We were there just three weeks later and it was 90s for the whole week.

And I laughed out loud when you said that the Hat was being mobbed! A five minute wait is pretty good!

Can't wait for more!

I hope you get to! I never ever thought we would, and it was absolutely a dream come true. It only would have been better had it been for a longer trip!

The temperature ended up being kind of a non issue. It didn't feel as cool to me as 69 degrees would have felt at home on a non-rainy day. Believe me, it was made up for the next day!

Thanks!

4th FP+ worked well for us both days, but having to do it at a kiosk was a pain in the butt. It will be so much better if/when they bring it to the app.

Aw, did she not bring you Mickey stickers?? :lmao:

IT IS!!! I still remember the first time I experienced it...Now I hope for it every time.

Disney Jr. looks adorable! Love the pics!

I gotta say, I don't hate Disney Jr. Maybe when I have seen it a million times and know it by heart I'll have a different opinion, but for now, I actually enjoy watching Paxton have such a blast.

RIGHT?! I had wasted quite a bit of time straightening my hair the night before, and within 20 minutes I think, it had gone into a messy bun because it was so frizzy and unruly again from the humidity. How hers still looked so good, I have no idea. Brenda, share your hair secrets!!

I was so surprised that they didn't open at 11, as I thought that's what time all of the CS places started serving lunch. We like to eat early before the rush, so that was kind of annoying that we had to sit around and kill time before we could get any food!

Noooooo, it's SO FUN!!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Looks like Paxton really enjoyed the Disney Jr Show. Great pictures. Time to admit I have never read or watched Gone with the wind. Maybe I should?? He is a bit Disney Jr. crazy, so that show is definitely a hit!

Oh my goodness, YES YOU SHOULD!!! I love both differently, but I saw the movie several times before reading the book, and it is truly a great story. It's great for a rainy afternoon, because it's long!!

I feel the same way about GMR. I can take it or leave it. It's definitely great on a rainy day in WDW, though! Can't beat 25 minutes inside and dry.

Hmmm, I should try that with the broccoli! :lmao: He loved that bucket, and carried it around the rest of the day.

:rotfl: That's exactly what we did! We had SO many restaurants we wanted to try, that they were definitely planned out in the itinerary. Save yourself some searching, it was here in my October 2013 PTR. Hopefully he loves it as much as DS did! That was a great trip and a great age to take him.

Glad you were able to switch around your FP+ and take advantage of the 4th one!

Wow, Paxton looks SO happy to be at the Disney Jr. show! Look at that dimple! Too cute.

I love Gone With the Wind too! I actually read the book first, so I kinda favor that, but love the movie too! I don't remember seeing that dress in there either.

Cool that you got a DIS-meet in! :thumbsup2

Hmmm, maybe I should dust off the Wii and get Izzy going on Toy Story Mania.

What a cool Kids Meal! Really cute and lots of good things to munch on too.

That sounds like an amazing ToT ride - wow!

So nice that you got to meet up with an old friend! Disney is a great place for that. :goodvibes

Now I'm even more excited for the Disney Jr. show! All 3 boys LOVE everything on Disney Junior so they will love it for sure. It looks like Paxton enjoyed it! And the gold doubloons!!

DHS seems like the weak spot for QS restaurants. But I'm going to have to keep my eye out for that Lightning McQueen bucket!

And that ToT sequence sound amazing!!

Can't wait to hear more!

nice morning timing - you made the 9:40 Dis Jr show and did so much beforehand!! love that! Looks like Paxton loved the show, I'm hoping Aria likes it more now, IDK what was wrong in Disneyland. Her favorite is jake!

GMR will go about the same for us I think too, but I am planning to ride in August. We'll see!

I laughed at your Wii comment! I need to do that too, going to have to blow off quite a bit of dust though. IDK the last time it was on, but we have the TSMM game as well! Not sure if she would get it quite yet, but it wouldn't hurt to try!

That bucket looks very cool for a Cars loving little boy!

Great DIS meets!!! Hoping we have an overlap at some point soon! :goodvibes

aw looks like your son loved Disney Jr Live! I think it is a pretty fun show and I think the kids just love seeing characters they've only seen on TV come to "life" .... plus it's got gold dabloons for them to catch and other fun stuff!

Glad you were able to reschedule your FP+ => it really seems like when it works right FP+ can be a major, well, plus ... but IT issues can prevent everyone from having great experiences

You got some great pictures on the Great Movie Ride (which I guess is appropriate ;) )

Yeah for DISMeet! That's great that you got to meet up with Brenda! And then one of your friends as well - Disney bringing together friends both old and new!

Ooh, does sound like a good sequence on ToT

Sounds like quite a day at DHS! FP+ is definitely cool for the fact that you change your reservation on the fly. DS looks so happy watching the Disney Jr show! So nice that you got to catch up with an old friend at Disney too :)

Paxton looks super excited in Disney Jr Live. My nephews really loved the show, too.

Yay for so many meet ups!! :)

Despite the rain it looks like a really fun morning. :)

wow I just read my last comment, that was supposed to be at Epcot not at Saturday, haha.

Looks like an exciting morning at DHS so far! The Disney Jr show looks really cute, maybe we can attempt it in December at almost 2.5. I love the pictures of Paxton with Lightening and Mater, didn't he thumbs up last year too? So cute! I haven't done GMR in a few years and I forgot that gangster scene is loud and probably scary to little ears. Your lunch looked good from Backlot Express. The cars bucket that Paxton's came in is so cute! So awesome that you got to meet up with Brenda and an old friend!

Disney Jr Live came along right about the time my DD thought she was too old for it but it looks adorable and Paxton looked like he was having so much fun!

It wouldn't be a day in DHS if Paxton didn't stop by and say hello to his buds, Lightning McQueen and Mater!:rotfl:

How cool, you got to meet Brenda! I feel like everyone has had a DISmeet with her. She's like the DISmeet queen! She's on my list of DISers to meet one day.

That does sound like an awesome ride sequence on ToT. I'll admit, I don't ride that particular ride, but I always have to listen to Alex complain/rave about the sequences he's stuck with. So I can appreciate the fact that you got a good one. :lmao:

That dimple comes out every time he's really excited, so needless to say, we see it a LOT when we're in Disney World! He definitely loves the Disney Jr. show.

Maybe the dress is a newer addition? I was pretty young the first time I saw the movie, so I had seen it a few times by the time I read the book in high school. I was working a summer job at my mom's daycare that she owned, and would read it while the kids were napping. I remember one of the other girls was so shocked that I would read a book that big FOR FUN! :rotfl:

Paxton LOVES playing TSM on the Wii now...he's hooked!! Definitely something Izzy may enjoy, especially since it involves button pushing and remote waving. :thumbsup2

It's definitely a hit for any kid who even remotely likes Disney Jr. It's kind of sad because DS is just discovering shows like Little Einsteins, Special Agent Oso and Handy Manny via the Disney Jr. app and growing to love them all, just as they are all being removed from the parks! Oh well, he still enjoys the new stuff. Gold doubloons are always a must!

It really is the hardest place to find QS food. We usually eat at Sci Fi for lunch for that reason, but with such a short trip we didn't want to waste a lot of time at meals. It was okay food, and the Lightning bucket was a plus.

It's incredible...absolutely my favorite!!

nice morning timing - you made the 9:40 Dis Jr show and did so much beforehand!! love that! Looks like Paxton loved the show, I'm hoping Aria likes it more now, IDK what was wrong in Disneyland. Her favorite is jake!

We hit the ground running, that's for sure. Too bad she didn't enjoy it as much in DL, but hopefully she will like it more on your next trip.

GMR always seems so tame in my mind when I'm thinking about it, then we get on it and I'm like, "Whyyyy did we do this?!" :lmao: It's more the loud noises than anything else!

Before letting Paxton play, we hadn't turned that thing on to play a game in years! I forgot how fun it was to play, so I've enjoyed playing it with him the past couple weeks.

With how much you & Aria are there, I can't believe it hasn't happened yet!! Hopefully soon!!

aw looks like your son loved Disney Jr Live! I think it is a pretty fun show and I think the kids just love seeing characters they've only seen on TV come to "life" .... plus it's got gold dabloons for them to catch and other fun stuff!

Ooh, does sound like a good sequence on ToT

He definitely loves that show, so it's become a must-do in DHS. I think you got it right, it's probably so exciting to them just to see their favorite shows and characters come to life right in front of them like that.

That's absolutely what we found when it came to using FP+ and the MDE app! When it worked, it was great, but when it didn't, it became a huge headache.

It was so great getting to meet Brenda, and catching up with an old friend! Love how Disney brings people together!!

Sounds like quite a day at DHS! FP+ is definitely cool for the fact that you change your reservation on the fly. DS looks so happy watching the Disney Jr show! So nice that you got to catch up with an old friend at Disney too :)

We loved being able to change our reservations on the fly, and we did so a couple more times over the weekend. The only thing I hated was having to go to the kiosk to book additional FP+ after using up our original 3. Hopefully they improve the stability of the app and make it possible to book additional FP+ there.

Paxton looks super excited in Disney Jr Live. My nephews really loved the show, too.

Yay for so many meet ups!! :)

Despite the rain it looks like a really fun morning. :)

It's a great show for little ones! They all get pretty excited about it.

We definitely made the best of the day despite the rain. With only a couple of days, we didn't really have any other choice!

wow I just read my last comment, that was supposed to be at Epcot not at Saturday, haha.

:lmao: While I didn't know which park you had been too, I was pretty sure "Saturday" was supposed to be one of them!!

I think at that age, Gavin will probably enjoy it! There's singing, dancing, bubbles, gold doubloons...what's not to like?? It's definitely a good transition show, because they don't have to sit still and be quiet for the whole thing like some other shows.

He did do the thumbs up last year too! It just happens when he's meeting his buds.

He still loves that Lightning bucket and wants to carry things in it all the time. Definitely money well spent on lunch there!

Disney Jr Live came along right about the time my DD thought she was too old for it but it looks adorable and Paxton looked like he was having so much fun!

It's a cute show for the younger crowd, but if you never got to see it, you aren't missing too much! :rotfl:

It wouldn't be a day in DHS if Paxton didn't stop by and say hello to his buds, Lightning McQueen and Mater!:rotfl:

How cool, you got to meet Brenda! I feel like everyone has had a DISmeet with her. She's like the DISmeet queen! She's on my list of DISers to meet one day.

So true!!! It won't be the last time they make an appearance in this TR, either. :lmao:

:rotfl: I think everyone HAS had a meet with Brenda! She's EVERYWHERE! And such a sweetheart!!

No ToT?! :sad1: That makes me sad!! Just kidding, but if Alex has ever had that sequence, I'm sure he can attest to the fact that it's AWESOME!

Those are some awesome shots on The Great Movie Ride! It's funny how I see that first scene even in pictures and think, "Man, we always go on this just to sit; it gets kinda old after a while." Then as we get more into the ride, I just remember why I really do love it! It brings back so many memories of being on it as a kid too and how I was terrified of the Alien scene but acted as if I was fine with it, haha. Now I love seeing all the hidden Mickey and other fun "secrets" even if I have seen it many times before. Plus, there are always more details to enjoy! One of my favorite rides was when Howard and I sat in the last row, so we turned around and looked at each scene as we exited.

We figured we could head right over there after Disney Jr. and first, avoid the rain if it was still coming down by doing a longer indoor attraction, and second, help us use up our FP+ reservations in the morning so we could make a 4th FP+ reservation before leaving the park for our break.
Ok, thanks for sharing a positive redeeming quality for the FP+ system. Was it quick and easy to make the changes on the app?

I am a HUGE fan of Gone With the Wind, and this dress in particular is an absolute favorite of mine! My aunt is obsessed with GWtW also, and as a kid, she took me to see the movie when they were showing it at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, and she bought me a huge framed poster print of Scarlett in that picnic dress that I had hanging over my bed until I moved out of my parents’ house.
Cool! Always fun to see something on a display like that when it has so much personal meaning behind it.

As we made our way into a seedy part of town, I knew this was probably the point where DS would be pretty unhappy about this ride, because more than anything else, he HATES loud noises! My thoughts were confirmed when this gangster showed up and initiated a gunfight.
Yeah... I think we might have to be ready to cover some ears if we try this one.

We chatted for a bit like old friends, then she asked if she could take a picture of the three of us. I was game, but DS was apparently not cooperative (even though she had won him over with a Mickey sticker!).
Mickey stickers usually do the trick.

I turned on the Wii for the first time in years last weekend and he played TSM on there for the first time…he loved it! Getting him lots of practice in for our next trip, I guess.
:thumbsup2

Just don't let him practice too much. You don't want him to beat you, do you? :rotfl2::rotfl:

It got EVEN BETTER when we got down to the movie and they did the fake out where they start playing the movie and then shoot you back to the top and drop you down again! That's gotta be the best ride sequence EVER!
I had that happen to me last time. I love that!!!

He was nice and chatty for about a minute, then he pulled his sunshade down on the stroller as if to say he was absolutely done talking.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Just like my DS. He does the same thing.

I totally get that. I always kind of resist going, but once we get on, I appreciate that ride so much! I swear, they toned down that Alien scene, because I remember it being way scarier as a kid. :rotfl: I remember you writing about that in one of your TRs, and it sounds like such a cool way to experience the ride.

Day 3 Continued: Saturday May 3rd

While I was meeting up with friends, DH was dropping in on another dimension in the Tower of Terror. Of course, he documented his journey in photos!

Soon enough, DH came off the ride in one piece and we decided to walk over to the nearby kiosk to add a 4th FP+ to use later on when we got back to the park. For the moment, DS was happy carrying around his Lightning McQueen bucket and all was right with the world.

I had glanced at the line there earlier, and it was huge, but luckily by the time we were ready to visit the kiosk, it had died down and there was hardly anyone there. We ended up going over to a CM instead of using the actual kiosk, which was good because we ran into a glitch. We had booked all 3 of us for ToT FP+ because we knew there was no point in booking something different for DS since he couldn’t exactly do any other attractions on his own. But since we hadn’t used it, we couldn’t book him a 4th FP+. So that nixed our idea of getting FP+ for Fantasmic for later that night. Instead DH and I went ahead a booked our 4th FP+ for Rock’n’Roller Coaster for 6:55 pm. It was getting close to naptime, and we knew we were pushing it when DS dropped his apple slices he had been snacking on and started losing it! I scrambled to get him some Teddy Grahams that we had brought for snacks, but he was wailing for those apples! The CM’s made a big deal over him, telling him it was going to be okay, and telling DH and I we were doing something right if he wanted apples more than cookies! Lol We knew it was definitely time to head out after that. As we walked out of the park, he calmed down and had a blast splashing through puddles all the way to the car.

We got back to WL pretty quickly and stopped at the fountain for DS to throw a coin in before going up to the room.

Naptime didn’t go so smoothly, considering we were all in the same room. It took DS awhile to settle down and go to sleep. When we got up, we changed clothes and freshened up before heading back to Celebration for 4 pm Mass. It was SO PACKED because they were having a bunch of kids getting their first Communion and we had to park down the street and walk because the parking lot was full. Unfortunately, it started pouring while we were in there and we had left the umbrella in the car! DH drew the short straw and walked back to the car to get it so that DS and I wouldn’t get soaked when we left. He’s a keeper!

After Mass, we went straight back to DHS. Here’s what it looked like when we got there!

03-126 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
This is pretty representative of most of our day!

We had a short list of things we still wanted to do that evening before going to get a spot for Fantasmic, and seeing Muppets 3-D was one of them, so we headed there first.

I have no idea why DS is in the corner of this photo with his earmuffs on, but there he is!

We walked right into the next show, which is a blessing with DS and his short attention span, but is kind of a bummer for me because that’s my favorite pre-show in Disney! I convinced DS to keep his 3-D glasses on for the whole show, and he really seemed to enjoy it! DH tried out some photography during the show, and had a bunch that came out pretty good!

Day 3 Continued: Saturday May 3rd

After the show, we decided to stop into Pizza Planet for some dinner.

03-148 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We all got pizzas, of course, and ate upstairs. Despite his love for pizza, DS didn’t eat much at this meal. I am usually okay with Disney pizza, but it wasn’t the greatest this time. It was a little cold.

Again, I was the first one finished, and it was nearing time for my RnRC FP time, so I hurried over there while DH and DS finished eating.

03-150 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I walked right into the studio pre-show, skipping almost an hour wait! As we were making our way out of the studio and into the corridor before you go to the alley, there was a mom and her son, maybe about 11 or 12 years old, talking to each other in another language right in front of me. As soon as we got to the point where we could see one of the coasters launch, the boy’s eyes popped open and he said, “That’s fast!” Since he spoke English, I asked if it was his first time and he said it was. I told him that it looks scary, but that it’s so fun! We ended up on the same vehicle, and as we got off, I asked if he loved it, and he said he did! It’s so fun to see people experiencing something for the first time that seems old hat to you.

While I was zooming off to an Aerosmith concert, DH and DS were wandering around near the Christmas shop where DS was excited to see a snowman. And apparently they decided to have a photo shoot!

03-153 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I texted DH to see where they were so I could meet up with them, and surprise surprise, they were waiting to see Lightning and Mater again per DS’s request. I showed up right as it was his turn for photos and found DS acting silly and dancing while making funny faces! Sorry there’s so many, I had a hard time narrowing them down because they all make me laugh!

After that silly meet, DH had to go over to RnRC to ride using his FP+.

03-166 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

03-170 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

03-171 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I decided to take DS over to the Animation Building to hopefully meet Mickey, but the line was kind of long. So instead, we just spent some time coloring at the kiosk.

03-168 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

After a little while coloring, I had to kind of drag him away so we could go meet up with DH and head into Fantasmic. After missing out on seeing Fantasmic last year because DH wasn’t feeling well, we were hopeful that everything would work out well for us to see it tonight. They were filing people in so we joined in at the end of the moving line…just as it started raining AGAIN. So far, DS had been fine in the stroller with the rain cover on, but of course, that wasn’t going to do us much good heading into the theater. Luckily, DH had made sure to pick up a kids rain jacket before the trip, so we had that to put on him. It was huge on him, so we had to roll up the sleeves, but it served its purpose.

03-173 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

03-174 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We got in and had to go waaay down to the left side of the audience, but it wasn’t a terrible view for how close to show time we entered. Unfortunately, with the steady light rain, they kept announcing that the show would be delayed a few minutes. I was getting frustrated, especially considering how our Fantasmic! experience had ended in October. Would the weather cause us to leave disappointed once again?
