I hope this is the right place to post this -

Is it appropriate to bring a 12 year old (almost 13 year old) to the Adventurer's Club in Pleasure Island??

Thanks!

and it can be a hot topic!

Here is my take on it. Would you take your child to a bar to hang out or a comedy club? The humor can be a bit risque and since the club depends on audience interaction you never know what might be said. They serve alcohol and there will be people there who have had more than enough to drink.

If you think that your child can handle that then there are no restrictions against taking them in the clubs. Really, you have to know your child and know what you as a parent are comfortable with.

Good Luck

I've seen children that young in the Adventurers Club before.

That being said, I wouldn't take my kids in. Personally I don't think Pleasure Island after dark is the place for kids even in the "streets".

Of all the clubs at PI, the Adventurers club would probably be the one I would consider taking my kids to if I were to take them to PI, but even the AC can be a bit risque. It's not that there is anything that they probably don't see or hear every day at school (probably not as bad as school, it is Disney), but there are enough insinuations and border line stuff that I would think some parents might wish the kids weren't there and some kids who are sharp enough to understand the jokes could be embarrassed. And if they are too young they would probably be bored.

Just my humble opinion.

I would also take into consideration the other adults who are there with the intent of having an evening out w/o kids!

IMHO.....go to the very first show of the evening. We never go to any other, but the first. Although some do sit at the bar and drink and through out the show also. If I remember correctly they are only allowed to serve you two drinks. Dont know how strict that is tho. Mind you , this is the very first show. I can just imagine that later in the evening the atmosphere will change.

Whoo Hoooo... Lemme tell you!! First of all, this is my all time favorite place outside of the theme parks in WDW. DH and I go here to drink and watch the characters interact with the guests.
I don't think it is appropriate for children. We were there for the last time on Saturday the 18th, and although I had never seen it before, a few of the male guests decided to moon us during one of Samantha Sterling's songs. Yes, there is humor that would fly above children's heads, but you never know what the audience will do. I know the characters will try and keep it mellow for the first few shows, but after that all heck breaks loose after the alcohol starts flowing!
What a great time we have here though ;) :drinking1 Kungaloosh!

damn I am going to get flamed for this my daughter loves pleasure island AC and the comedy warehouse she is only 11

Not sure about a two-drink limit...I've never seen that in approximately 8 trips to AC over the last several years. Is this new?

I agree with the other posters that feel PI should be adult only, even at AC due to the adult-oriented humor. I've also noticed some kids getting caught up in the AC character interaction to the point of disrupting the show.

The comedy in both the AC and the Comedy Warehouse is about on a par this what you'll find in any Drew Carey episode. We used to take our three kids to PI when they were in their early teens to catch the first CW show and spent a little time in the AC. My son, the youngest, would get bored and leave PI to catch some fireworks or stroll the Boardwalk, our girls fell in love with AC and now, in their early 20's, stay later than us.

It's a personal matter. Disney allows under 18's into most PI venues. If they see some adults acting up under the influence, it will lead them to a life of strict sobriety, like their old man.

There is no drink limit other than the fact that you can only purchase one at a time per person of drinking age.

Apparently that's never happened before.

Doesn't mean it won't happen again, since the audience is not going to play nice sometimes.

Thanks everyone for your honest replies. I think that we will wait until he is a bit older (maybe 16??) to go. It would probably be okay, but why chance it.

We were there Monday night & there was a young girl there who lost her first tooth! The CM's noticed & said "imagine the fun you'll have when you're older, getting to tell people you lost your first tooth IN A BAR"! Then, they also told her that if you lose your first tooth in the AC, Tinkerbell will leave you $50 under your pillow. Guess mom had to run out & get $50 that night - LOL.

    Serves her right for bringing her little one to a bar!

Hmmm, I asked a similar question a while back. I didn't know if I should consider PI and the Adventurer's Club with my two DGD's. There were so many that said YES, not a problem, that I actually bought PHPs, instead of PHs based on those DIS opinions! LOL Well, we are planning to take the girls for an hour or so on our arrival night, so I'll let you know how it goes

Okay...... Now my interest has been piqued....

DH and I were planning to do F&W then Jellyrolls next week... but AC sounds kinda of interesting.....

We have done JR's... should we give AC a whirl??

Adventurer's Club is a neat place. Unlike any other club atmosphere you can encounter. You will like it!

I'm 29 and when we went with my parents , I was kind of embarrassed to be there with my Dad during some of the jokes!!! It was later in the evening when we were there though... ;)

Last year I took my DD8 and DS7 and they loved it. I consider myself rather strict in what I allow my kids to do. I did not hear anything off color the whole time we were there. From what I heard, they keep it less naughty if you go earlier in the night. But it is Disney and they are not allowed Rated R stuff so I felt safe taking them. Maybe there may be some jokes that went above their head, but nothing that bad. I don't really consider it a bar, it is more entertainment. It was great family fun. They want to go back this year because it was so silly and fun.
They involved my kids in their skits several times during the night. My kids are kinda shy and they still involved them. There are clubs that are 21 and older only. I feel if you really want to be away from kids, maybe you should leave the D isney grounds and go somewhere else because there is always going to be kids around in DIsney!
