Advantages for Online Check-In?

Hi

Does anyone know of any other advantge of online check-in besides a shorter check-in time?

Does it or could it effect the chance of getting a better located room if you check in online rather than in person?

I didn't see any advantage of on-line check-in. last week when I showed up at the the special on-line check in counter, they had no record of my credit card number so we had to process it again. They also had no record of my DDP request (phoned that one in) so they had to re-print our cards. The process took longer than the regular check-in because they had more than twice as many people on the "regular" check-in.
Still, the entire process took less than ten minutes so overall it was still quick but I wasted my time with the on-line check-in.

The on-line check in doesn't allow you to request a room location so it won't help you there. We checked-in at 10:00 in the morning and got the building in SSR that we wanted.

In July, checked-in online for OKW. Arrived at 7 am, all paperwork was completed, AND they had our room ready! After the red-eye, it was fabulous news!

In July, checked-in online for AKL/K. Arrived at 1 pm, all paperwork was completed, AND they had our room ready!

Coincidence??? I have no idea. But, I'm not taking any chances---I'm doing online check-in for our November trip to AKL/K! It's a red-eye flight again, so wish us luck.

When you do online check in, it asks you what time you'll be arriving. In 3 trips since online check in started, by room was ready each time (12:30 - 1pm). What room you get depends on the requests you make when you book your reservation - not how or when you check in!

I did online checkin again for this Friday, although since it's for Jambo House concierge it was probably a waste of time. But, they know I'll be arriving at 1pm so perhaps my room will be ready again.
