I own 200 points SSR and am thinking about buying 50 add on points at BLT...What advantages would I have by doing this?

If you decide to sell at some point, smaller contracts will bring more money.

It is easier to pay for.

It is easier to resale the points in the future.

It can be easier to divide the points later between children, if you wish.

Look at when you want to go to DW and look at the points required for the stay and make sure 50 points are enough. Sometimes it is better to buy the odd number (i.e. 58 for a 2 day stay in a studio, MK view at Christmas) rather than just the 50.

You can finance a purchase over 50 points, or pay cash for a purchase over 25 points.

Would I be able to bank/borrow my 200 to use with the 50 to get 11 month booking?

nope.

the home resort advantage stays with the points.

you can bank/borrow using the 50 pt contract to get 100 pts every other year or 150 pts every third year to book at 11 months at BLT.

but you will never be able to use your SSR pts to book BLT (or anywhere other than SSR) at 11 months.

25 minimum purchase for add-on through Disney, 50 point minimum purchase if you want Disney's financing. No closing costs for add-on through Disney.

If you plan to stay at BLT every other year you'd have 100 points to book at 11 month window ( or double whatever amount of points you decide to purchase at BLT, triple amount every third year with bank & borrow ).

If staying at BLT is something you're very much wanting to do then a small contract at least gives you the advantage of booking some time there at 11 month window which many speculate will be very important due to the anticipated popularity of BLT.

:)
