Advanced Internship Hiring Process

Hello All!

I've applied for an Advanced Internship in the animal programs. Although I've been told that they are accepting applications through March, and to expect hiring decisions to be made by April 27th, I've just been scheduled for a 1 hour phone interview next week. The program that I'm applying to is extremely competitive (hundreds of apps. for only 2 positions). Based on this info, is my interview a good sign?

And.. do the Advanced Internships typically conduct two sets of interviews, or just one?

I applied for an intership in the Disney Design group. I don't know if they typically do two interviews but I know that I've been through one interview and am waiting to hear if I get to interview again. I would think that because your interview is 1 hour long that that is a good sign. My first interview was only 15 minutes and was basically "are you disney material?"

Just had my interview! I'm glad it's over.. I guess they're hiring 4 people and interviewing the top 10% of applicants for my program. It's pretty competitive!! They only do one interview for my program so I guess it all comes down to that. I'm supposed to hear from them by April 27th... almost 2 whole months away...... I might keel over from impatience before then!

Just curious, which internship are you applying for? I'm planning on applying for the animal behavior one (though probably not for a couple of years at the rate I'm going through college. hah), which I'm sure is super competitive... I'm just not sure how many people they actually accept each semester.

I am currently doing my very first internship w/Disney. I think the hiring process generally differs between each department. But I know for sure that HR does a screening interview which would be the 15-20 minute interviews. Then they forward your info to the appropriate departments, and from there you can expect more interviews.

I applied in October 2006, and they called me two days later. I passed the screening interview, then had three more interviews from there. The first one after the screening view was with two of the hiring managers, and the next one was just a second round interview to ask a few more things, then the final one was my "final round" interview with like 5 or 6 other people on the phone! One was even a manager on conference call from California. I know that it's probably different for other departments because this is the first time they ever had a professional intern in their department. Anyway--it's nice that they do the interviews through the phone because it takes off a lot of pressure

My hiring process with all the interviews was all smooth sailing, it all happened within the course of a month. I think that's pretty good considering how many interviews they have to conduct day after day. I know there was a lot of waiting time for some people, but don't be discouraged to call after a week and see how the hiring process is going. It will show that you are really interested. But then again--be sure to NOT make their phone ring off the hook.
