Adults Only?

I've cruised ever year since I was 18, I am 24 now. People think I'm still 17 and in high school. I'd say carry a id around and your fine. That's what I do. Since I know at least one person will think I look young and I have been carded etc. when I cruised on Fantasy in April I actually had to go back and get my DL so I could get a drink lol

Trust me, there will come a time when you will miss those days of looking younger than you really are :rotfl2:

Funny side story. I was on a business trip in Alpharetta, GA and went out to dinner with two other guys, all of us in our 40s and 50s. While waiting for a table, we went to the bar to get drinks. The bartender asked me for proof and I asked him if he was kidding. I didn't know that it was a law in Georgia that they had to ask for proof.

Well that's good too hear, gets annoying right now at times, but I am use to it

Once on board DCL you only need to show your Key Card as your birthdate is imbedded in it. No need to carry any other ID. :)

I had thought so as well, but I gave my card and was asked to see a id before I could get served a drink so I suggest carrying one. The one time I didn't have a id had to go back and get it.

I supose a teen could easily get their parents KTTWC and use it to purchase alcahol, so photo ID is a good idea.

Ha! I live close to Alpharetta. My dad would get carded when he was in his 80's due to that law. I know lots of people who live here and travel elsewhere, but haven't heard of too many traveling here for business.

Back on topic, I noticed on the KTTWC that adults of drinking age have an A printed next to ADULT. Adults under 21 have a B.

I was going to say the same thing, but did not want to put that our there.

We actually saw people get carded at the Conched Out Bar last week. I made the comment to DH that I thought the ages were encoded on the cards, but the whole group of early 20 somethings had to show IDs.

We also saw a 16 year old get kicked out of Sessions (I overheard the father say his age). Almost no one was in there and 1 family was sitting quietly together. This kid was not bothering anyone, but they did make him leave.

I thought that when they scan the cards, a photo is supposed to appear on their computer screen? I thought that was the purpose of taking pictures at check-in for them to be attached to each card?

Yeah I was carded at that same bar, and had to show id, so I would just say if you look young to bring extra id just in case, haha I was carrying around my idea all cruise long and didn't get carded and the time I don't have it I get carded. After that I laughed it off and said yup, I'm not listening to what people on disboards say about not having the extra id

Glad to see them enforcing the rules in this case.

I'm just off the Magic July 28 NYC-Bahamas cruise, and they were definitely great about enforcing the Adults Only rules. My DS (2.5) was napping in his stroller while we were on deck. To get away from the loud music by the family pools, I walked over the Quiet Cove pool area, sat in a lounger that was closest to the area's entrance, and parked the stroller next to me (poised to leave the second my son stirred). I was politely asked to leave by a cast member, and of course I obliged. I did find it amusing that a group of teens sitting directly behind the Quiet Cove pool were being much louder and disruptive than my sleeping son, but rules are rules, and there are definitely distinct boundaries to the Adult areas!

I've read some previous comments about kids coming into the adult only area just to 'check-in' with thier parents. It makes me wonder though.....Adults are allowed all over the ship, but kids are not allowed in the adult only sections....so, wouldn't logic dictate that the PARENTS should check-in with the KIDS, and not the other way around????:confused3

If it's something planned, then yes. I think the parents should check in with the children.

But, if it's a special circumstance and a child needs to get a message to his/her parent, I don't see why it would be a problem for a child to walk into the adult area quietly to speak with his/her parent for a few seconds. If it is something that requires more discussion than can be accomplished in 15-20 seconds, then the parent should get up and move the conversation outside the adults-only area.

Your photo is embedded into your card but the only place it can be seen is at the swipe terminals when you board the ship, Guest Services desk and reenter terminals when you come back from excursions.

Truthfully, out of 11 cruises I have not noticed children around the adult pool. I never realized that walking through the area with children is not allowed. We do not cruise with children as ours are adults. With the configuration of the Dream, I do not have a problem with families walking through the adult pool area. Stopping and taking up seating, yes, but not walking thorugh.

You would think.

Don't worry, it's nothing that middle age and child bearing won't take care of. I was told I couldn't sit in an exit row seat when I was on my way to plan my wedding. I was out of college! Just grin and flash.

For us, cruising is family vacation time so we spend very little time in the adults-only areas. If it were up to me, there would not be any adults-only areas.
