Adult Trip Ideas to Disney

First time poster, but a long time reader. I would like to thank every one for the great bits of information including rates. Going in late September at the $20 rate per night, $136 round trip plane tickets thru ATA and a $155 per week Full Size car through Alamo. I have the WDW tickets and Universal tickets left over from a previous trip. I almost feel guilty going this cheap.

As a result of these rates, we will be able to take an adult only family trip to Disney. Everyone but me will be a rookie. Any thoughts on can't miss special shows/parades like Fantasmic? Want to make this trip special for these first time visitors. Any information would be much appreciated.

Maybe some well chosen priority seatings at a small variety of restaurants, like doing Chefs de France or Le Cellier right before Illuminations or going to Kona Cafe for some Tonga Toast in the morning, before hopping over to the MK. Get a PS at something fun like the Prime Time Cafe. Or, you could plan to do the Fantasmic Dinner package - getting you a seat at a great restaurant and guaranteeing you entry into the show afterwards. The key is to keep it loose and not try to overplan I guess.

I don't know how large your group is, but one thing I have learned from experience is not to expect everyone to do the same things together all the time. I had one trip a few years ago where there were 6 of us together and we almost killed each other trying to make each other happy. We did nothing more than make each other miserable! Everyone had different wants for the trip. So, we smartened up. We went our own ways and met up for specific events such as parades, fireworks, or dinner ressies. We were all much happier!

For my "Special 29th (hmm) birthday", I want an adult only trip to WDW. I'd do the Keys to the Kingdom tour, have a dress up night out for dinner and Cirque, a specialty fireworks cruise, dinner in the castle (no characters that time of day), probably do an evening at PI. Having been to the parks numerous times, I wouldn't feel I had to go to a one! But having newbies, you must go. Darn.

Traveling with an all adult group can have challenges. Merrywether put it perfectly re expectations of everyone wanting to do the same things. Everyone values their vacation time and money differently. Remember, you are all adults, keep the planning to a minimum. You as a non-rookie will be asked to give suggestions. Planning special meeting places, or meals works well.
We recently took a family trip to WDW mother's day weekend. The planning stage revealed alot. Four of us stayed at CBR. The other six didn't want to spend as much on lodging, so stayed at Homewood Suites. We all went to the Boardwalk for dinner on Mother's Day, shopped alittle, enjoyed the people watching. Only one of the members of the larger group had a park hopper, so he joined us. Three parks, one day, 90 plus degrees. Good thing the crowds were LOW.
My 79 y/o mother went to Epcot, she had a "lovely lunch in France" and enjoyed the world showcase, while we did AK and MK. All 10 of us met at the 5:30 Millionaire show. We then split up again, and finnished the night at RRC. Lower your expectations, add lots of time to your touring, take lots of pictures to share. Oh, and having cell phones really helps if people are not at the meeting place. The memories will be great.
