Can an adult order from the child's menu at a table service restaurant? Not on dining plan. Try to not have too much food on the plate and save some money.

I have never been told no. It's one thing if they offer an adult size version but sometimes the only place they offer a particular item is from the kids menu so with that noone has ever given me a difficult time

I've heard of adults doing this (never have tried it myself). I think it costs more, but they also give you more food as well.

As others have said, you usually can.
But as others have often said, it might not meet your goals of less food at a lower cost.

I've only ever done this at CS. It's still a lot of food and at kid prices. I think they up charge you at some TS places if you do this. Not 100% sure.

I've ordered a kids meal for myself at a few restaurants over the years. Never had an issue! You should be fine, but be prepared if some object. In that case you can always just order an appetizer. Theyre usually a lot cheaper.

I order kid meals at QS for breakfast, and once in awhile when I want a snack. Never had problem. I have never done it at a TS restaurant though.

I have a digestive disease so can only eat small portions and order from the kids menu all the time. Counter service , Table Service all over Disney and DCL. I have never been denied the servers have been great.

I have done it from QS restaurants but at TS restaurants, we would sometimes share adult meals. And yes, we saved a lot of money eating from the kids menu and sharing meals. Plus because we ate smaller meals, we didn't walk around the park feeling so full!

QS are treated differently than TS restaurants. Everyone can order a Childs meal at a QS, no questions asked.
Some TS are very good about it, some not so much and some will serve an "adult portion" of a kids choice at an adult price. It is best to go to TS with lower expectations and be pleasant surprised, or focus on QS, sharing meals or ordering appetizers.
Good Luck

Yes, ordering from the kids menu is allowed at any Disney restaurant as long as you are not at a buffet. I have ordered from the kids menu many times. I am a small person, with a small appetite and there have been occasions when nothing on the adult menu appeals to me. I have never encountered a problem.
Now let me just say that I would never do this at a non Disney restaurant, e.g. T Rex, etc.
What happens at Disney stays at Disney.:rolleyes1

Has anyone had the STEAK on the kids menu, and if so, how was it. My 17 year old does not like large meals

I'd say most place it's ok...but we had a difficult time at BOG dinner ordering off the child's menu for someone in our party who had just had sleeve surgery. This was be OOP with a medical WLS card. According the the waitress, the manager was making a one time exception, but would not include the child drink or dessert. Yet we'd still have to pay the full price.

Yea, no thank you.

Not sure if the waitress was just being a jerk because the rest of us were on the DDP. She kept gushing over the most expensive meal on the menu...

Wow. We paid OOP at BOG, and had no problem. Guess it all depends who you are dealing with. We always leave a generous tip to make up for the lower cost of ordering the kids meal, and I could care less about getting the kids meal beverage. Under the circumstances, considering the health issue, I think the server and the manager may have overreacted.

I can see not including the drink since an adult might drink more, or not offering a refill...but why not desert?

We've done Be Our Guest lunch with two kid meals -- never had a problem with cast members.

Big food portions and allowed us to eat a cupcake each. We kept the bottle of water from the kids meal for later and ordered a separate fountain drink to enjoy our lunch.

My DS now 10 has ordered the kids steak in a few places in past years, and it was never really that good :( Either too fatty/tough or just extremely small. He LOVES his steak so began ordering steak off the adult menu when he was 8.5. Whenever he would say the (kids) steak didn't taste good DH or I would try it to see if he was just being whiny, but we always agreed it wasn't appetizing.

That is what I was thinking, maybe my daughter and I will just split the adult steak and add something else with it

San Angel Inn flat-out refused to let my DD order from the kids menu when she was about 13. Everything on the adult menu had either meat or cilantro in it, and she didn't eat either of these at the time. We said thank-you, we'll have dinner elsewhere! (fortunately this was before the no-show fee!)
