Please help me out here. Wondering what the "Junior" category means? I've noticed on the WDW commercials, the package price they advertise is for 2 adults, 1 Junior, and 1 child.

I made my room-only ressie for myself, DD10, and DS5 and the confirmation I got in the mail says 1 Adult, 1 Junior, 1 Child. What does "junior" mean exactly? Other than a distinction for someone who is actually a child paying adult prices for passes and meals? LOL!

I think you got it right when you said a child paying adult prices for tickets and meals. I think once a child reaches the age of 10 they are now considered a junior. When we went in December my ressie said 1 adult, 1 junior and 1 child and my kids were 13 and 9.

Enjoy your trip! :sunny:

Junior is the WDW designation for a child aged 10-17. Juniors pay adult price for park passes, but are considered children on room reservations, as in they won't charge you the "extra adult in the room" fee. I always think it has to do with the fact that most 10 yr olds are tall enough to ride all the thrill attractions at WDW, so they pay full admission price. (I know WDW doesn't do it by height, they do it by age.)

Thanks for your resposes. Wouldn't it be great if they actually had 3 categories for pricing for the meals and the park passes?

I would love to do the dining plan, but dismissed the idea all together when I realized I would have to pay adult prices for my 10 yr old who eats like a bird. I might have still considered it if they had met me in middle with a "Junior" price for her.

As for the parks, my DS5 was made all the height requirements for the rides (except Rockin Roller Coaster) two years ago at 3! I HOPE they stick to the age for pricing, if they ever went by height, we'd be in trouble! :rotfl:

Anyone else just "crossed over" with their 10 yr old from child to adult prices wishing there were a true middle category?

Me! Our last family trip to WDW was in 11/04, pre-dining plan and back when the kids' price for meals was 3-11, not 3-9. My oldest DS was 11 at the time so it was nice being able to pay the kids' price for him as he didn't eat much at all. I think it would be nice if they had a 'junior' dining price that was in the middle of the child and adult price, perhaps for 10-13 year olds, or even 10-12 year olds, as around 13 seems to be for many kids where their appetite gets more adult-sized!

We'll never do the dining plan, because DD12 only eats vegetarian/plain/raw/tasteless food :lmao: I mean, she lives on french fries, raw veggies, Mickey waffles (no syrup or butter!) fruit cups, dry Cheerios, and plain pasta when we are at WDW! Once we ordered her a hotdog plate at Fulton's, hold the hot dog (she just wanted the hotdog bun and the french fries)

No way would I pay full adult price for her! If they let her eat for the child's price, mainly off the child's menu (or set a $ amount that she could order), then I might be persuaded...

We would certainly plan more character meals if there were a junior price. I wanted to try HDDR, I was looking into it before I realized we would have 2 adults and one child!! Now, we just have one character meal planned and the FDP at H & V, everything else will be CS for us!
