OK-
I was in Florida last month...
I got water in my ear in the pool. Two weeks ago I had the Dr look at it while I was in with one of my kids and she said - yes there is water there just take sudefed etc and it should dry up. Well it has only gotten worse. Despite trying the sudafed. NOW it hurts everynight - it is sooo painful... but I have yet to spike a fever or have any other symptoms so I have not called her back yet.
Some have offered their home remedies to try - but I haven't been to the store yet to buy pure grain alcohol.

What do you think?

go back to the doctor. It may not have been infected at the time, but it may be now. In adults, there isn't usually a fever, just pain.

I have had enough of them to know. I usually get them with a sinus infection.

I had my first ever adult ear infection last month - just like you described, so so painful, but never a fever. It started over the weekend, and got so bad so fast that Saturday night the pressure spontaneously caused my eardrum to be punctured when it "popped".

I would get to the doctor as soon as possible, so it doesn't have a chance to get any worse.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me after our WDW trip last June. Go back to the Dr. ASAP. If it's really painful, you risk perforating your eardrum if you don't get it treated. This happened to me and it was not pleasant. My Dr. told me to never ignore an earache, they can be serious. Good luck and hope you feel better soon :)

Go to the doctor. Ignoring it risks your hearing and that is not something you want.

Even in children, there is not always a fever with an ear infection. Have the doctor check it again.
