What do you order when you go out. My son is in a band and dh and I sometimes go see them play which means bars with younger crowds. What can I order besides a red wine. I'm kinda clueless and we usually aren't bar people but I like a drink now and then.

I like martinis. Usually a cosmo or pomegranate but this summer I had my first watermelon one! Yum.

I love margaritas, but not everyone does them justice.

If you want something to sip, I love a drink called Nuts and Berries. It's Chambord, Frangelico and either Baileys, or sometimes they just use half and half. It's sweet and nice to sip on for a treat.

My husband loves bourbon or whiskey on the rocks.

Smirnoff Bottle Drinks
Mojitos
Rum and Coke
Gin and tonic
Long Island Ice Tea
Wine Spritzer

Red wine is my staple as well...

And a Mojito, a Long Island Iced Tea (if you are brave), a Rum and Coke, Jack and Ginger, SoCo and Coke with Lime, Cranberry and Vodka...

Kahlua & cream (or milk), and I second margaritas. If I am not sure on what type of margaritas, then I just order a top shelf margarita.

I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a beer snob, so I'll look for a good craft brew. If the bar only has the BudMillerCoors crapola than it's a Jack & Coke for me.

Rum and coke
Mojito
Amaretto sour
Kamikaze
Chocolate martini
Other flavored martinis (see if there are any house specials)
Jack and coke
Malibu and coke
Cranberry and vodka
Check out the drink menu...some of the bars that cater to the younger crowd are pretty inventive. Or if you're feeling daring, ask the bartender to create something for you ;)

I usually order a Sex on the Beach. I like Cosmos too but not as much as a Sex on the Beach.

A great drink to order is Malibu Coconut Rum and Sprite. Tastes just like a Sonic Ocean Water. It's very smooth and goes down easily. But be warned it doesn't seem like you are drinking alcohol so it can sneak up on you

I like LI Ice Tea, but it's a dangerous drink. It can sneak up on you.

Definitely be careful with Long Island Ice Tea! I was a bartender in college (living the dream of every college kid, I suppose) and with five liquors going into the drink, few bartenders can keep the pour to the right volume (I know I never could). Most end up about two and a half times stronger than an average drink, so they can put you under the table quickly!

I love a great margarita. If the bar makes its own sour mix, that's usually a good sign for me.

I'll admit that I'm a man who loves a good fruity drink!

What about going the vegie route and having a bloody mary? Every place I go they make 'em different so it's kind of entertaining to taste the various recipes!

As someone else mentioned if the bar has any unusual beers you could check those out. I used to think I didn't like beer but then I tried some craft beers and quickly decided I was wrong. LOL

Enjoy and be safe whatever you choose to drink!

Standard bar drink for me would be a Canadian whiskey and Coke. I might get a Margarita if the mood strikes or a White Russian if I want something yummy and strong. I'll get the occasional imported beer or maybe a Bloody Mary.

By the way, I probably drink 2-3 times a year.

My standard drink is a Vodka Cranberry. It's funny, I always order it this way, but I noticed others on this thread have referred to it as "Cranberry with vodka." I wonder if I have been saying it wrong all this time? At least the bartender knows where my priorities are.

Might depend on how much of the drink is vodka and how much is cranberry. It's one of my favorites.

I just started a thread this week about ideas for flavored vodkas. My new favorite right now is raspberry vodka, 7up and splash of cranberry. Always a twist of lime. It's nice and refreshing.
