Adult beverages

Mike's Hard Lemonade (if the bar has black cherry, get that flavor!! SO GOOD!)
Smirnoff Blueberry Lemonade
Fuzzy Navels (orange juice and peach schnapps)
Malibu and orange juice
Apple Pie Shots

I hate beer, and always go for fruity stuff, so if you're like me, all those are great choices. :thumbsup2

Strawberry Daiquiris are my favorite, but not all bars make frozen drinks. I also like kahlua and cream. A newer fave is the John Daly - half lemonade, half iced tea, and vodka.

My standard drink is a Vodka Cranberry. It's funny, I always order it this way, but I noticed others on this thread have referred to it as "Cranberry with vodka." I wonder if I have been saying it wrong all this time? At least the bartender knows where my priorities are.

:rotfl2:

I've always called it a Cape Codder, but that may just be a Massachusetts thing...

Jack Daniels and ginger ale
Absolut raspberry and sprite with a splash of cranberry juice
Firefly sweet tea vodka and lemonade
Malibu and pineapple juice

I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a beer snob, so I'll look for a good craft brew. If the bar only has the BudMillerCoors crapola than it's a Jack & Coke for me.

Exactly! If they don't have a Bourbon barrel aged Stout, why not just grab some Bourbon? lol

I stick to craft beer or some sort of whisky/whiskey (depending on where it's from)

Most bars will have red wine though. It may not be the best but any respectable "full bar" should have some.

My wife sometimes drinks Malibu rum and Diet Coke.

Absolut Citron and sour (Lemon/Citrus vodka and Squirt) is my go to drink.
DH is a 7 and 7 (Seagram's 7 whiskey and 7up) or 7 and sour.

there are really endless creations of a shot and a mixer that would be available at every bar, even if it's a dive.

Vodka
Flavored vodkas (will vary depending on the place)
Rum
flavored/spiced rum (Malibu coconut rum, Captain Morgan spiced rum)
gin
whiskey (canadian, Seagram's 7, Black Velvet)
bourbon (Jim Beam, Jack Daniels)
Southern Comfort (sweet whiskey)
Schnapps (root beer, butterscotch, peppermint, etc.)

Mixers are any soda or juice. in the winter, there are lots of yummy liqueurs that are great in a cup of coffee.

Experiment!

I'm a wine drinker too, but if I'm out at a busy bar where a band is playing, they may not have much of a selection, plus yelling your order at a bartender isn't exactly conducive to ordering a certain type of wine (i.e., do you have a list? what's the house wine? etc.). I like margaritas too, but they can be SO unpredictable from place to place that I usually only order them when I know they are good.

At a busy bar I stick with cranberry vodka - it's good and it can't be messed up (unlike a fancy drink with a lot of ingredients).

I usually order a Sex on the Beach. I like Cosmos too but not as much as a Sex on the Beach.

that was going to be my suggestion go with sex on a beach. i play in a band and have had quite a few family members friends etc that arent really bar people come out and see me. usally when the ladies in the crowd (or guys who dont drink beer) ask what they should drink i usally throw out things like

sex on a beach

vodka cranberry (with sprite!)

a parrot bay or malibu pina colada (those are coconut rums, give the pina colada are more beachy flavor to me)

a screwdriver with any kind of flavored vodka is good too...

My go-to drink is a bottle of Smirnoff. Like a PP said, sometimes in a busy bar you wait in line for a drink, the band is loud, people are everywhere - it's an easy drink to order with no special instructions. I hang out at alot of local dive bars, I try not to get to fancy with my drinks in places like this. ;)

My 2nd choice is Vodka Cranberry.

My standard drink is a Vodka Cranberry. It's funny, I always order it this way, but I noticed others on this thread have referred to it as "Cranberry with vodka." I wonder if I have been saying it wrong all this time? At least the bartender knows where my priorities are.

Maybe it's a regional thing :confused3 Maybe not. I noticed that right away on this thread.

Firefly sweet tea vodka and lemonade

I've been meaning to try this.

Long Island Ice Tea...usually saves you $ cause you just need one;)

If red wine is your thing then order that. Not sure why you'd worry about ordering something different unless you want to expand your horizons.

Canadian whiskey...do they really market that as being something uber special here?! I'm Canadian but I live in the US now. I just don't get all the replies of "Canadian Whiskey" being special. Matter of fact Canadians call it rye, not whiskey. Though we know it as both. Maybe you (general you) think of Canadian whiskey as Crown Royal since that's more high end?! :confused3

My college drink (15 years ago!!!:scared1:) was Midori sours. Midori is a melon liquor--so it's just that and sweet and sour mix, some places will add some seltzer or other carbonation too.
I'm not sure if that a little too "immature" for me now, I don't go to bars very much any more! But they are really good if you like fruity, "girly" sour drinks!:thumbsup2

The few times I have gone out to bars lately, I've ordered Long Beach iced teas. They are similar to Long Island iced teas (1 will go a looooooong way! ;) ), but Long Beach will have cranberry juice instead of cola. :)

Malibu rum and Diet Coke. It's been my drink of choice for years.

Theres a local Mexican place that has awesome Margaritas, I always make sure I am not driving if I have anything other than the small one :thumbsup2

What about going the vegie route and having a bloody mary? Every place I go they make 'em different so it's kind of entertaining to taste the various recipes!

As someone else mentioned if the bar has any unusual beers you could check those out. I used to think I didn't like beer but then I tried some craft beers and quickly decided I was wrong. LOL

Enjoy and be safe whatever you choose to drink!

Really? You drink bloody mary's after 11:00 a.m.? :rotfl:

DH and I love them, but the last time he was going to order one, it was at dinner. I said to him that I didn't think we drank them after 11:00. He told me I was right, they are a brunch cocktail and he ordered a manhattan. I ordered iced tea because I knew he wouldn't drink a manhattan. I was right. He took one sip and pushed it over to me to drink. I like my dark, chewy red wines, martinis and hard licquor cocktails. He likes fruity drinks.

If I'm going to hear a band, I will typically order a beer. If I'm out at a cocktail lounge with entertainment, I'll order a dirty martini.

My favorite is Nuts and Berries, which is Frangelico, Chambord, and milk. Delicious!!!!

Next is Malibu Rum, pineapple juice, and a splash of grenadine.
