Thanks to everyone who is still following along. Had a bit of a delay after an amazing adults-only week in Mexico. In typical DIS fashion I tried to get the bartenders to make me an avocado margarita, to no avail though. Somehow I managed to survive the week on cerveza and plain ole margaritas.
On the heels of Turkey Day, today we'll be taking a visit to Liberty Tree Tavern but a bit more back story before we get there.
Day 5 started with our last club level breakfast. It was bitter sweet being our last, but we were looking forward to checking into Boardwalk for the first time later in the day. After gorging myself on fruit, croissants, and espresso we were off to the Magic Kingdom.
On the way in, we popped into the barber shop to see if they could take Casey. At 3 1/2 her hair was s....l.....o.......w to come in so I was hesitant to take scissors to what we waited for so long for. We've also never booked a trip for more than 6 months in advance so BBB is out of the question, so this was the best we could so. Aside from it being the worlds shortest haircut (apparently it only takes 2.5 seconds to cut little people hair), she loved the pixie dust and was quite pleased with herself.
We showed off the new do my posing for a crane - um I mean castle - photo. This was Casey's 3rd trip to the world and 3rd trip with that darn crane out. At this point she just thinks Cinderella spends her spare time doing construction around the castle. #modernprincess
After a spin on some magic carpets, a meet and greet with a street rat, and a lovely cruise with Johnny Depp we had fast passes for splash mountain. Despite this being our 2nd cruise through the old south, Casey wasn't thrilled the water was messing up her hair...
With our bellies rumbling I looked online to see if there were any ressies at a table service restaurant to get us out of the heat and was very surprised to see LTT had an opening in an hour. Quickly jumped on that one and then we bided our time on the wildest ride in the west before checking in on 999 deadly haunts. Spooky...
We checked in for the ressie behind a wonderfully understanding man who couldn't comprehend why his party of 9 with no ADR couldn't be seated right away. After listening to his logical arguments - but we have kids and we're hungry - we were soon on our way to the table. This was our first time in LTT and I was impressed by all the founding father chicness. And from a girl from Virginia whose been dragged to one to many historical homes and taverns - they did a pretty good job.
After examining the menu - brought to us by ocean spray craisins, random - Jason went for the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger topped with bacon, cheddar, and mushrooms.

He said this was good (I wouldn't touch it due to the aforementioned mushrooms), but they needed to offer a temperature to cook it to as he is a medium rare man and was faced with a decidedly very well done burger.
I had every intention of ordering the colony salad so I could have a healthier option and of course pay homage to our ocean spray host, but I got lost in all the colonial goodness and elected for Casey and I to share the Pilgrim's Feast - Traditional Roast Turkey served with Herb Bread Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, and Green Beans.

The turkey was very moist (though not as moist as our turkey day bird, thank you Jason) and the gravy had a nice peppery taste to it - though I could have used some more on the plate. The potatoes were standard order and the beans solid, but the stuffing was a little too stove-toppy for my liking.
Of course we hadn't left room for D-sert (as Casey calls it) but couldn't resist the temptation of a little dessert that has reached legendary status here on the DIS. Meet the most awesome dessert of our trip, otherwise known as Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake - Vanilla Cake with a Gooey Toffee Filling, Caramel Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream...

Oh my ooey gooey bliss. I couldn't believe this cake was ooey, gooey, and toffee exactly as promised. My only complaint would be the too much ice cream to cake ratio, but otherwise it was sweet and salty and soft and crunchy and absolute perfection. We literally licked the plate clean.
Our server was kind enough to bring Casey her own ice cream with red, white and blue mickey sprinkles. I'd like to think he did this out of the goodness of his heart, but I think he really knew there was no chance we were sharing the toffee cake with the kid ; )
Overall this was a great meal and a pleasant escape from the heat of the park. I may even book an ADR ahead of time next trip just for the break. With our tables in wonderland card we saved $9.01.
From there we had a quick visit with talking mickey (I know I'm in the minority but I find him a bit creepy) who danced with Casey before hitting the bus stop for Boardwalk. It was a long wait for the bus (I missed the WL boat already), but Casey amused herself my doing a little housekeeping on her rented stroller...
