So we booked our vacation for May and have paid in full....cash...have the dinning plan. Wanted to book the Luau at Poly and get all the way done when am told that even with the dinning plan we had to put on a credit card...we got rid of our a couple years ago and pay cash for everything now (too much debt before). So why am I being punished for NOT having a credit card anylonger?? I can't make the ADR and am sure when we get there that we won't be able to go. Am so upset that Disney has no alternative for those who don't have a credit card. Has really placed a black cloud over my entire vacation :(

I completely sympathize with your situation as I have no credit cards, either, only a debit card attached to my checking account and one for my PayPal account.

This may be a stupid question, but do you have a debit card with a Visa or MasterCard logo that you can use? Or even maybe go out and buy one of those prepaid cards that are available. American Express offers them, too, and I think they can be bought at banks.

Sounds like this was not explained to you, but they only charge it if you don't show up to pick up your tickets and don't cancel at least 48 hours in advance. It is just for their protection to guard against last-minutes changes of mind. With the dining plan, you'd go to a resort desk and let them take the credits for the dinner show by swiping your room keycard, then they give you your tickets and the credit/debit card would never be applied.

Unfortunately our world is set up for plastic and we non-credit-users are in the minority, but there are often ways around it.

I hope this helps and that you have a fantabulous trip!

so can I do a prepaid card to set reservation??? I was afraid they would not do that. Do they "hold" the amt of the dinner on your card??

I know they don't hold or freeze the full amount of funds, just do a pre-auth which might show up as $1.00.

If I were doing this and had no debit card to fall back on, I would get the prepaid card for whatever spending money I planned to take, and use it for the guarantee on the Luau.

I don't service Disney Dining Reservations anymore, so I can't say 100%, but I believe it should work and at least getting the prepaid card for your spending money wouldn't be a total loss if it does not.

They want the CC just as a hold when you are using the DDP. They do not charge anything to it. You absolutely can get a prepaid card to use for that hold. A merchant has no idea whether your card is a regular CC or a prepaid.

You can get a visa debit card from walmart I believe its $3 and $3 to put money on it or if you are cashing a payroll or gov't check $3 they will load your card for free. Its a good card to have if you don't have a CC you can manage your spending better just load it with say half of what you plan on spending at Disney and use it to make ressie for the luau if they put a hold of a $1 on it I don't think it would matter although if you have DDP they will see that and jump put the # on your ressie for the luau and not swipe unless you no show
