Is it better to use Firefox or IE when making ADRs online? Any problems with one or the other? I usually use Firefox.
Edit: Just saw another poster mention that there were problems with IE on one day and Firefox on another....go figure :confused3

Also a DISer mentioned some time ago that he/she had multiple tabs open before 6am, one for each ADR, and, if I understand correctly, at 6am only had to login with resort res. # once, then clicked on each tab to make the ADR.

How do I get multiple tabs open, one for each ADR? (wish I had asked at the time I read the post) :confused3 I'm a Granny, not a techie, so simple instructions please

I stink at tech stuff, but what I would do if I were you is go to the online reservations and make a reservation, then cancel it. Give it a test.

I tried IE one time, figuring Firefox is alway compatible with all sites. My reservation would take on IE. I was flipping out. I switch to Firefox and had no problem. I just loaded Firefox 4 and haven't tried it yet. I plan on trying Firefox first.

That was me who was having trouble on each site at different times. I wouldn't trust one or the other, because a few weeks ago FF worked for me but not IE. Then yesterday FF wouldn't work but IE did! Strange...strange...

If I were you, I would just have each browser open to disney, and start out with one. That way if it doesn't work, you already have the other open and can switch to it just in case. Also, the dry-run idea doesn't work because just the night before when I was doing a practice reservation, FF was working for me fine. So just have each open just in case, hopefully things will run smooth for you! I've heard plenty of people who had no problems at all, so I don't know if I just have bad luck or what! Good luck, I hope you get everything you want!

I use firefox all of the time, so it was what I used when making my ADRs and I had no issues. I logged onto the system at 5:05am Central, my 180+10 took without issue, and I made all of our reservations. I didn't bother with the multiple tabs though (still got everything we wanted). I just prioritized which ADRs we wanted most and which seemed to be the most difficult to get. Again, no issues.

To open multiple tabs in one browser window at once, you just go to the menu bar at the top of the screen (I'm in Firefox right now but all browsers have the same type of options normally) and choose File --> New Tab

or

again in Firefox, look at the top of your browser window underneath the address box - right hand side - there should be a tab with a "+" sign on it - click that and it opens a new blank tab.

I agree - at various times, some browsers have worked for me and others didn't and other times it was different ones that didn't work. It really makes no sense, so it's just best to be prepared.

today for me FF didn't work, nor did chrome, but IE did

Thanks so much everyone! :worship:

vicki_c: I didn't know it would be so easy to open several tabs...thought I would have to "configure" something

I have another question: If I log in before 6am I realize that some kind of message will show up because it's more than 180 days (tried already :thumbsup2 ) so would I just keep clicking on "refresh" until my date comes up, or should I wait and log in at 6am or just after? :surfweb:

Maybe I'm just worrying too much.:headache:

Tomorrow is the day! I usually leave home around 5:40am to go to work....but not tomorrow....as well as ADRs I'm also making appts for the grandchildren at BBB and PL and cannot do that until the phones activate (assuming 7am, same as ADRs?). I'm taking the day off work for this special event :rotfl2:

Yep, those phones should also open up at 7am.

As far as the browser issues, it's less the actual browser and more about cookies and caches, hence the reason why people have issues in all of them. Switching to a less used browser lowers the chance that you have said cookie/cache issue (since it hasn't been on the site a lot) and thus allows stuff to go through. You can google how to clear the cookies and cache for your particular browser if needed :).

I did it and got everything I wanted, then at 7am I called to make appts at BBB and PL for the grandchildren, my call was answered right away!

One thing to note though, the idea of having a new tab open for each ressie did not work well....on the 2nd res I had to enter my vacation res # again and the restaurant info/time etc went back to default

It was much easier to stay on the same page after a confirmation, and enter the next one on the left side of that page. (hope that makes sense)

Thanks again everyone :grouphug:

PS I used FF without a problem

Guess that tab thing is not foolproof - when I did it, once I entered the reservation # on one tab, the others automatically were connected with it. It's not really necessary anyway - I was doing it more as a "proof of concept" - not because I was that worried about getting reservations!
