ADR's easier at 90 days versus 180 days?

These are both very good points. I'm hoping a moderator or someone with in-depth knowledge can provide a legitimate answer. Furthermore, anyone calling recently or in the near future for ADRs, and utilizing the 90+10 rule, is planning on vacationing in WDW between June and August, which, let's be honest, is the busiest, long-haul window of the year. Free Dining in August thru October won't help, nor will the holidays thereafter.

Also keep in mind that in addition to the place you want and the time you'd like, you must consider the # of people for whom you are reserving. Not every TS location has a hundred tables for 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 people. Even if they do, it is an unspoken caveat that "some" CMs will not make a reservation for 3 people even if they have tables available for 6 and above. They will not waste that table on 50% coverage. In short, just because you are told there is nothing available for your requested time doesn't mean that nothing is available. It just means that nothing is available for your party size. Could you request two tables? Possibly, but there's no guarantee they will be available at the same times or even near each other.

90 days was the rule as far back as April maybe March. The only ones that went beyond that time was for CRT, V&A and Chef Mickey's which was until 6/19. Other than day all ADR's have only be available for 90 days for a couple of months now.

We had difficutly for the tougher places to get. Like LeCellier. And we are a typcial family of 4. All we could get was lunch on one of the days or a very late dinner after 9 which does not work with kids.

Good luck to everyone. It really depends upon what places you are requesting and the timing I guess. Hope ya'll get all the adrs you need!

The CM told me to call back exactly 90 days before the day I was going to be in DHS. It was a few days before because of the 90 + 10 rule

90 + 10???

Please explain what this is, is it 90 or 100 days????

I'm one of the ones who always books at 180 days out and then tweak as necessary. Are they going back to 180, or is it 90 from here on out? We go to WDW over Christmas and I've already been eyeing the calendar.

For people staying on site, you can make up to 10 days of reservations from the start of your vacation (that way, you don't have to call back every day to make your ADRs). So, if your 90th day was, say, today, and you were staying for 7 days, you could make all 7 days worth of ADRs today instead of calling back every day for the next 7 days. Hope that helps! Good luck!! :goodvibes

At this point, there are no "grandfathered in" people. I called in December to book my ADRs for May and was told they would be changing to 90 and I could only make Chef Mickey, CRT, V&A (but only until 6/19). Since we are closer than 90 days to 6/19, there are no grandfathered in people in the system.

I got every ADR I wanted.

I think the logical answer to the original question will be that it will be harder for people who call exactly 90 days out IF you used to call exactly 180 days out b/c there will be more people to compete with (meaning more people know their plans 90 days out). If you used to call 120 days out, this will be easier for you b/c everything won't already be taken by OCD planners (no offense, I did try to call 180 days out) who called 180 days out.

I don't have much experience, but it was relatively painless and easy for me (very little hold time, got what I wanted)..granted I have a 2 year old, so nothing was make or break for me...really I don't see why things are make or break for anyone...there are several Mickey meals, several princess meals, several places to get steak, several places to get seafood, etc.

Some people are also experiencing more difficulty just because it is a new system, not all CMs were trained immediately or were just learning when people called. BUT this would have happened if they switched the system and kept the days the same or switched to 200 days or 60 days or whatever.

I think the truth is most people will in fact still get most of what they want. The problem comes when you have something very specific you want at a very specific place. For example, I REALLY want CRT on my daughter's birthday. This is probably the ONLY time we will spend her birthday at Disney, and that's what I always pictured as part of that day. It kills me that I know what I want but have to sit around and wait for other people to firm up their plans and compete with me for that date. For most plans, you can switch around park days, but I haven't been able to talk her into changing her birthday!

Regardless, most should get close to what they want except for CRT, LeCel, Fantasmic packages, and maybe CM and Sci Fi at certain times.

Other than a slightly longer wait, there really was no difference for me. I actually prefer the 180 days out.

I got everything we wanted 90 out and I got it at 180 days at well. So neither way was easier or harder.

The one thing I think makes a huge different is staying on site. Last November we stayed off site and I had to call daily for ADRs and while we got them all we did not get them all at the times we wanted. Our CRT breakfast I got at 10:30 am when I really like to get it before the park opens.

For my June trip was even able to get tables seating 7 people at quite a few places so, it worked out great for us. I didn't notice difference between 180 or 90 days. I even got Chef Mickey. I got a Fantasmic package. I got Hoop Dee Doo.

We are going in June and I definitely thought it was harder. I didn't get Chef Mickey at all. I think that is because it was still opened up for 180 days, and I didn't plan my trip until close to the 90 day mark. My DD wanted 1900 Park Fare for her birthday dinner, we had to take 4:30pm, the only time left. Not to mention, I called at 6am (CST), was on hold for 1 hour. Tried again and again on and off until 9:30am when I finally got through! I am happy I at least got an ADR for her birthday, early is better than not having one! :)

Definitely was harder for us. I did get the restaurants that I wanted (wasn't trying for LeCellier, though, or Fantasmic package), but we are eating at really off and weird times--dinners having to be at 4:35 and lunches having to be at 1:20, etc. I called right at my 90 day mark (and did my +10 because we are on-site), but it was a much longer, more complicated, and frustrating process.

I'm hoping that when the CMs are really and truly trained on how the system works, it will get smoother. Mine seemed to know what she was doing, but WOW was it a frustrating 90 minutes on the phone to get 10 reservations made, and I only spent 5 of those minutes on hold. The other 85 were actually working with the CM and it was a miserable experience compared to before. Again, though, I'm not entirely sure that is a function of the 90 thing or the new (really bad in my experience) system.

Have you noticed....they do not care how long you have to wait or hold the line...YOU are paying for the long distance telephone call! I wonder if we wouldn't have to hold as long if Disney was paying the bill? OR obviously, this is WHY Disney doesn't pay the bill!

Today was my 90 day mark. I called first thing at 7, and got right through. The CM was really wonderful. I got everything I was hoping for, including MM Fantasmic Pkg and Chef Mickey. I have to admit, though, that I chose to eat at "off" times. :)
