ADR's and trying to add on 1 person within a week of trip?

Ok - I know this is a crazy scenario and not to my liking at all but my brother may be joining us on our May 1st - 9th trip. We are signed up for all of our ADR's and have the DDP (not that having it makes a difference, etc.). But if I need to add 1 person on to our ADR is it going to be a huge deal (i.e. will they need to cancel and rebook therefore we may lose)?

While under normal circumstances we would have added him 180 days ago to our ADR's however we don't even know when he gets back for his "break" in deployment until 2-5 days before he actually gets to leave. He is currently on deployment in Iraq (Mosul) and his break is tentatively scheduled for sometime in April/May and may overlap our vacation. Well I thought it would be nice if he could join us instead of sitting at home while both my father/stepmother are in Europe and we are in Florida.

What if we didn't want to cancel the reservation but he still wanted to join us at that particular meal - do we have any options? Or are we sadly out of luck?

We had the same thing happen to us last year at Christmas time. My friend was not sure if she would be able to join us for Christmas or not. We didnt change any ADR but when we checked in at the restaurant we just told them the new number and there was never any problem. We always told them at the podium that if there was problem we would just go get counter service ...they never had a problem and this was Christmas time. If you want to call and try to change them I would do that but if you can't add one more on the ressie then I would feel pretty safe about leaving it. Anyone else???

We are a family of 3 and our friend is joining us for all the ADR's we made. In order to add her we would of had to cancel all them with the possibility of not being able to reschedule. It was recommended that we just add her at the podium when we check in at the restaurant. I hope it works!

Oh that would be great if we could just add him at the podium without having to redo all the ADR's (especially since we've had this planned for so long with the other family). I would be so happy to have him join us as we won't see him again until March of next year and he's very close with my daughter.

My neice joined us last august last minute. We just showed up to the podium extra early to see if they could add one person. We had no problem, all the restaurants were very accomadating and understanding. Have a fabulous trip!

The big question is,"will it change the size of the table?". If the answer is no, going from 3 to 4 or 5 to 6, then you should have no problem doing this at the podium. If it means changing table size, 2 to 3, or 4 to 5, it MIGHT be a problem and you need to have alternate plans. This will also depend on what restaraunts and what time(peak meal time or off peak).

Most of the time it will either be changing a table for 4 to 5 (if you include high chair as one of those seats) or 8 to 9 (if you again include high chair as one of those seats).

Let's see, this past trip, we had to change from 3 to 5 and we were able to do that with Disney Dining... a couple of times we were going to be two separate tables but at the podium, they took care of it and we all sat together. One was breakfast at Boma's and the other was Teppan Edo..
